Musically we are still in the realms of progressive folk rock with dashes of light psychedelia added to the mix. Having been in gestation for some five years the album has an unhurried feel with the string parts in particular being carefully arranged to compliment the songs. Even without a radical change in style Durant has managed to maintain a freshness and contemporary feel to the music that is undoubtedly in line with the times, particularly with the success of the like of Mumford & sons.
