Description/Reviews
Dutch project Choreomanic are out with the album "Choreomanic", and this is a production that for me at least feels like a natural fit into a progressive rock context. Funky basslines is a core foundation throughout here, delivered in a manner that reminds just as much of Les Claypool than Red Hot Chili Peppers, and just about as important as the bassline are liberal amounts of brass bursts of the kind, character and nature that adds something of a jazzrock feel to the proceedings. Song structure and development, rhythms and various effects all come in to be a natural and fit and sometime adding a subtle emphasis on the expressive, experimental and playful nature of it all. That the majority of the songs are short, tight and vibrant affairs also needs to be stated I suspect. An album for those who enjoy progressive rock of the kind that is a bit more out there, expressive and experimental in nature. (Olav M Bjornsen at progressor.net's facebook)

Description/Reviews:
What you get here is jazz/fusion/metal that’s FUNKY as all hell. Unlike most fusion/instrumental releases, there’s no long song with 5 minute solos. Instead of that, each track is built upon a principal groove, and the band just plays around with it for max 4 minutes until we’re onto the next track. It’s paced exquisitely, with a couple slower jams being placed in between all of the funkiness and jazziness. Each instrument is played perfectly, and mixed perfectly. Ranging from awesome synth work all the way to a bass guitar which has massive presence, every performance is a stand out.

Magic Munchbox "Intergalactic Fantastic"

Format: CD, digital

Tracklist:
1. Into The Box (0:49)
2. A Day In The Garage (7:09)

4. Premonition Pt. I (5:24)

7. Tides Of Life (8:56)

Total Time 38:43

Line-up:
Skeeter - Guitars
Gilson Machtolff - Guitars
Michael Vaughan - Bass
Robby Andersen - Drums

Description/Reviews:
While the band audibly draws from progressive rock, Magic Munchbox is just as likely to credit retro video games for its sound as it is to cite Rush or Frank Zappa as influences. The group's genre-pushing tendencies manifest in funky guitars and kinetic rhythms that blend in sweet, sweet (and sometimes sour) psychedelia-tinged sonic atmospheres.
Whether it's a mind-melting guitar solo that nearly resembles a 1970's jazz flute or an out-of-nowhere blues breakdown, the constantly shifting grooves of Magic Munchbox never cease to keep listeners' ears on their toes.

Description/Reviews:
They also like to associate themselves with the term pronk, which stands for progressive punk and has been made popular – well, more or less – by British band Cardiacs. Where these pronk pioneers usually had very strict songwriting, Detieti prefer to dabble more in freeform exercises, which can best be heard on the first and last track on the album, which both are about ten minutes long. The opener Cocaintro is not so much an intro but a nine minute long elaboration of different motifs that use all kinds of elements, from Black Sabbath influenced doom riffs to classical music. The overall impression if quite funky, as if the Spin Doctors had been let loose after the intake of unspecified hallucinogens.
