Description/Reviews:
With “La Materia del Suono” (The Matter of Sound), his first solo record, the multi-instrumentalist from Perugia allows his creativity to literally explode and flood into a mixture of music genres that is no other than the true spirit of progressive rock.
We are dealing with a cinematic concept album, the result of a compositional process that began years ago on the piano, an instrument that in fact dominates the stage from the first to the last note over a mainly jazz-rock and fusion rhythmic-melodic core. Countless contaminations are to be found throughout each track: classical, lyrical, ethnic, folk, and rock music, with several Moog and Mellotron performances that pay tribute to the Scandinavian prog, while flute and saxophone – played by Eva Morelli from Il Bacio della Medusa – frequently evoke jazz-rock and 1970s progressive music.
The album is fully instrumental, with the exception of the closing “Ciò che trascende” (What Transcends) whose lyrics are sung by the legendary Jumbo’s unmistakable vocalist Alvaro Fella, and explicitly invite the listeners to be always themselves and to constantly ask existential and philosophical questions in an increasingly materialistic and cold world.
With “La Materia del Suono” Diego Petrini eventually manages to make his few guest musicians sound like an orchestra, and proves himself to be a quite unique musical talent!

Description/Reviews:
Imilla abandons the experimentation of the previous Seme* (2018) to return to the visceral and multifaceted rock that has marked the stylistic signature of much of the group’s production from its origins until today.

Imilla is a ‘contemporary‘ concept album, inspired by the figure of Monika Ertl (who died fifty years ago at the hands of the Bolivian security militia), whose name “Imilla” was given as a combatant with the Bolivian militia in the 1960s and 1970s. Born from a predominantly acoustic version, entirely created by frontman Simone Cecchini, once proposed to the rest of the band, thanks mainly to the arrangements by Diego Petrini, Imilla finally took on its current Progressive and Hard Rock guise, without however completely losing its initial Folk and Latin nature.

Description/Reviews:
Contrary to what often happens in the vast progressive rock panorama, crowded by many prolific artists, Il Bacio della Medusa has always taken their right time to release a new album: this time six years have in fact passed from the previous “Deus Lo Vult”. Nothing to complain, however, when the wait is rewarded by the high quality of the result.
“Seme*” is no exception in this sense and, if the wind instrumensts played by Eva Morelli and Simone Cecchini’s voice represent elements of continuity with the past, everything else has been completely revolutionized. We are in fact facing the band’s most immediate and at the same time more varied record, a blend of hard, folk, jazz and classic rock, typical songwriter’s moments and even country and electronic music!
If it’s true that ‘prog’ means also evolution and mixing between musical genres, we are therefore in the presence of a daring album that, even if considerably deviating from the ‘classic prog’ coordinates, paradoxically represent the most progressive and original release in the entire career of the group.
