Description/Reviews
...on all media the band speak of their combining different musical styles into one. And that is not a lie. Opening with growling vocals over the album's storming intro, power metal riffs, clean male vocals, operatic female vocals - and that's before the 2 minute mark.
These guys and gals bring in elements from all over the musical world, based on modern prog metal, with lots of breaks and changes, obviously.

Description/Reviews
“Dalla vita autentica” is a complex but never boring record of modern and Mediterranean progressive rock, mostly made of contrasts between mellow orchestral parts with piano and strings, and other more rushing and ‘rock’ ones, in which in particular Alessandro Corvaglia’s expressive voice is the absolute protagonist. The long title-track at the end is a perfect example of this, over 16 minutes of sound explorations that perfectly seal a beautiful album.

... and the style is similar to bands like Jethro Tull with flutes and that sort of thing. “Hippie rock” is probably a decent way to describe what you get to hear when you listen to this album for over seventy minutes, and Francis the lady who sings manages to sing in both German and English making the album feel a bit exotic even – as they always do when you get to hear the lyrics sung in odd languages.

Description/Reviews
"The Archinauts" is a visionary out-of-the-schemes work, of a whimsical and dreamlike nature. In addition, the album is in the form of a 'concept' that also embraces poetry, photography and architecture; everything is taken care of in any detail, and trailers, video clips, artwork, and photographs accompanying the music are meant to tell it in every of its aspects.
From the musical point of view, Isproject's debut has a strong symphonic propensity, with numerous instrumental sections, rich of piano scores, keyboards, and beautiful mellow and inspired electric guitar solos. It is difficult to find out a structure in the tracks, which are a series of different atmospheres linked to each other in an absolutely natural and fluid way.
The fresh and original nature of the opera and the duo's enthusiasm soon captured Fabio Zuffanti's attention, who was reached in Genoa at the Zerodieci Studio, where Isproject were helped by the Z-Band musicians during the recording process. All has been coordinated by Zuffanti as an artistic director for an outstanding result that emphasizes the influences of the individual personalities of the artists who took part in it.

Description/Reviews
Enzo Donnarumma‘s sound explores and unifies different genres: prog metal, classical music, symphonic soundtrack, musical, ethnic music, world music. The new concept “In the Name of the Son” delivers a GOSPEL METAL sound thanks to the “Weza Moza Gospel Choir” from Congo, and follows up the critically acclaimed “In The Name of The Father” by pursuing the “sign of the cross” chronology.

Description/Reviews
It's basically hard/prog rock, but one unique thing about the album is that the majority of it is rather midtempo and even a little moody. It's a pretty interesting take, but I think it works well. There's plenty of prog goodness to go around with time signature changes and nice instrumental breaks and stuff. Impressive performance all around from the musicians.

Description/Reviews
Xaviera's stylistic conveyances are myriad, but the lyrical libretto is steadily paced, coherent, and keeps pulling you along from movement to movement. There are poetic glimpses into the ever contemplative hub of his mind, and the weariness of his heart--but there is also a radiance in moments that sound like resolve, or a renewal of the soul....

Description/Reviews
'Beteigeuze Part I' gets us under way and immediately we are immersed in a seventies-flavoured prog rock opus. The vocals are pretty much all harmonised (no one lead singer), but it is the instrumental passages that grab hold. Heavy on the retro keyboards it sounds as about authentic as you can gey without the use of a time machine. The track evolves into a lengthy jam that, although ostensibly prog rock, has enough psychedelic flashes and krautrock infused moments to keep an old head like me happy. What is striking however is that the band manage to keep it light and almost playful....

Description/Reviews
Whitewater, however, is anything but your straightforward classic prog rock.  The band plays ambient, psychedelic musings that somewhat resemble Pink Floyd’s more atmospheric side, and much of it does include expressive guitar work and an occasional rock portion.  Most of it is extremely slow-paced and subtle, so this definitely isn’t for everyone.  However, as someone who really enjoys ambient music, I find myself liking what I hear on this album, at least at first.  I wouldn’t call what they do “post-rock”, but it’s definitely closer to that than your typical progressive rock.

Description/Reviews
Formed in 1973, KAIPA never shied away from experimentation, embracing fresh elements and sounds manifesting especially on the albums released in the 2000’s. ‘Children Of The Sounds‘ is no exception, the album burns with creative fervour and spirit most vividly displayed on the title track, the 17 minutes long “On The Edge Of New Horizons” or closing track “What’s Behind The Fields”. It embodies a powerful, positive energy and artistic brilliance that is irresistible and true to the genre’s very essence.

Description/Reviews
Mixing rock, hard rock and progressive rock with heavy metal and power metal influences, Brazil's Daydream XI is a band with no self-imposed boundaries. In their sophomore release, The Circus Of The Tattered And Torn, the band embraces the progressive side of their music in a dark concept album. The concept is a metaphor to express that we are drawn to each other more by our weaknesses and our flaws than our strengths and virtues. It’s portrayed through a journey, where Phillip, the Circus master, takes his new apprentice, Circe, across the various acts of this Circus. Each song represents a feeling or aspect of human life, channeled by the storyline of each character.

Description/Reviews
That’s pretty much Ufomammut. Doomy, sludgy, stonery, psychedelic, a tad bit evil and a lot bit mad. ... The music here moves in unique ways for a record predominantly in the doom tradition. While there are certainly plenty of delicious riffs to sink your teeth into, Ufomammut generally avoid the trap of spending too much time in any one place, giving the album a sense of unpredictability that isn’t necessarily a doom metal strong-suit. These tracks are chock-full of psychedelic sounds, sludgy grooves, and tonal shifts that make this record a very easy one to listen to repeatedly, with new elements being pulled from each spin. This is an adventurous record that is very rarely boring or stagnant.

Description/Reviews
Phil Lanzon has been the keyboardist for Uriah Heep since 1986, but his debut solo album If You Think I’m Crazy! (2017) is outside the narrow confines of Heep music. It appears Phil had some serious prog he needed to manifest. He has a lot of pop/rock songwriting experience and had accumulated a backlog of songs that were not Heep-related. (OK, one song is Heep-ish.) This is glorious melodic/catchy prog plus some proggy ballads that probably could only have been created by someone from the first generation of British rock musicians. Lanzon grew up alongside the likes of Genesis, though he also admits to listening to and admiring Steven Wilson. Genesis may be the best single reference if one includes both their prog and pop eras, as the music here spans both. Lanzon’s songs also tend to be story-based. It’s surprising how bombastic most of this music is (‘bombast’ is an entirely positive thing to us progsters), with choirs, strings, and immaculate production yielding that larger-than-life sound. John Mitchell (Lonely Robot) had a big role on the album, playing guitar and singing some of the lead vocals. ... The whole album may make you nostalgic for the 1970s in that some of these songs would have had a chance at radio airplay then. Not now. ...If you’re like us, you skip to the longest track, in this case The Forest, although the shortest song, the instrumental Step Overture, is the most full-on prog (like the song Cinema was on Yes’s 90125), and the first song Mind Over Matter the one most likely to get lodged in your skull.
