Clearlight’s “Impressionist Symphony” focuses on the artistic style of impressionism, painting and music as well with a Ravel, Satie and Debussy influence merged with Cyrille Verdeaux’s progressive music experience and linked with the French impressionist school of painting.
The release celebrates the 40th anniversary of “Clearlight Symphony,” an early classic Virgin Record release, which featured Cyrille’s compositional skills and virtuoso keyboard playing, with performances by Gong family members Tim Blake, Steve Hillage, and Didier Malherbe, and others.
For the new symphony, Cyrille is once again joined by Tim, Steve, and Didier, as well other friends, new and old, on eight extended compositions. “Impressionist Symphony” continues Cyrille’s return to the world of progressive music, which was retriggered with the release of 2013’s Spirits Burning & Clearlight “Healthy Music In Large Doses”.

In 2004 Dyble made the decision to return to the music scene and since then has released 5 albums culminating in the highly acclaimed 'Talking with Strangers' (2009). The follow-up to this, 'Flow and Change' is an intimate, confessional, lyrical, beautiful and very English recording. The album opens with "Black Dog Dreams", co-written by Hawkwind alumnus, Simon House, it even features some surprisingly heavy, but searingly lyrical lap steel guitar courtesy of Mike Mooney from Echo and the Bunnymen. It demonstrates how an 'old school' artist, whose first recordings came out over forty years ago, has adapted surprisingly well to the 21st Century modus operandii of recording which involves one clever man, a laptop, and a bunch of talented musicians scattered around the globe who may never actually meet in the flesh.

The album is an adventurous journey through very different kind of songs and instrumentals, but all with the typical, quite theatrical Van Commenée signature. 'Gridlock' should be listened from beginning to end and isn't just a collection of songs. Literally 'Gridlock' stands for the famous Dutch traffic jams, but also tells about the 'Gridlocks' in our lives and heads. The wonderfully produced album may take a bit of time to sink in but once it does, it becomes timeless and unique.
