Description/Reviews
Leading us headfirst into this chaotic universe is Dimension Zero, a hallucinogenic dive into obscure instrumentation and even darker ideology. STÖMB talk about how the lyrical “obviousness” of other contemporary metal acts has melted away and drifted in favour of what they call “carefully mapped journeys of pure instrumental musicianship and listener interpretation.” And this is largely what we hear on the album. A record built from detailed blueprints that encourage an incredibly unique output.

Description/Reviews
A concept album that tells of a hero’s quest to honor a promise. It is a tale of an epic journey through the fall from grace, the battle for redemption and the ultimate glory and tragedy of salvation. It is a story of honor and valor, of a tormented soul and his quest to restore the light of hope and love to a world and soul consumed by darkness. It is a story of a promise kept.

Yuri Gagarin "The Outskirts Of Reality"

Release dateJanuary 31, 2020

Line-up
Christian "Crille" Lindberg: Lead guitar
Leif Göransson: Bass guitar
Stefan "Steffo" Johansson: Drums
Robin Klockerman: Synthesizers and FX
Jon Eriksson: Rhythm guitar

Description/Reviews
Based on their fundamental "Space Ritual-era-Hawkwind" template, Yuri Gagarin stay firm on their path while getting more versatile in the ideas, more evocative in their soundscapes and, most importantly, richer in their melodic approach; unlike many of their contemporaries, Yuri Gagarin, except for their ambient mastery, rely on their innate sense for melody and, almost cinematic, approach to drama. On "The Outskirts Of Reality" Yuri Gagarin present five new songs! Maybe with no lyrics, but still, these are songs, with the entire human feelings' part lying in the details; as if stuck in a never-ending spacetime continuum loop, trying to fabricate small changes each time, looking for a hole leading to eternity...

Description/Reviews
The formula of their songs is reminiscent of Rush at times, with the rhythm section of Alec and James laying down a solid, but far from simple, foundation for which the guitar is able to provide experimental soundscapes over the top.
... This can, at times, produce a dark sound reminiscent of early Black Sabbath, in fact Pulsate could have been included on Sabbath's debut album without seeming out of place.
The effects used on the guitar sound, at times, add a spacey feel to the songs, and with the bass sound to the front of the mix, this at times reminds me of Lemmy-period Hawkwind.

Description/Reviews
Coogans Bluff are an unrestrained act, an organism of sorts, that constantly shifts and evolves, not shying away from anything while breathing in everything from rock, jazz, prog, fusion, kraut to pop. On "Metronopolis" the band takes charge and effortlessly pulls off the straddle between proggy jazz-thunderstorms, mellow Beatles-esque tunes, and psychedelic journeys into the dreamy and exciting castle in the clouds in that the group seemingly resides in.

Line-up
Derek “Mo” Moore - bass, vocals
Ron Howden - drums, vocals
Randy Dembo - bass, 12-string guitar
Ryche Chlanda - guitar, vocals
Kendall Scott - keyboards

Description/Reviews
For “The Other Side” the band updated some of  ideas from 1978 which evolved in the basement of Mo Moore’s house in Chatham, New Jersey. Ron Howden, Mo and Ryche collaborated on much of the music heard on the album. The 1978 unrecorded song ‘Skypilot’ has evolved into ‘Skywriter’ in 2020.
‘I’m On Fire’ is the musical adaptation of a poem written by Mo for his soon-to-be wife, Nicki, during that same time period of 1978. The closing track, ‘Devil’s Door’, was originally performed live in 1974, but never featured on a Nektar album. Updated and recorded for this album, the song features the presence of the late Roye Albrighton on the introduction to the track, whose wonderful guitar part was taken from a live soundboard recording made in 1974.

Greg Ross - Bass, Vocals

Description/Review
The first disc in this set is titled Abandoned, and features ten tracks of hard driving progressive rock with just a hint of heavy metal & jazz. "Outside the Wire" is an example of the band at their heaviest, sounding not unlike veteran band Tiles, with a hint of Rush and during the softer parts you can even detect some Steely Dan influence. Funky bass and layers of guitar textures complement some alluring vocals on the atmospheric "Letting Go", while the title track offers up tasty piano & synths, emotional vocal stylings, for a more symphonic prog style. Another highlight here is the rousing hard rock number "Fables of Fortune", chock full of aggressive guitar work and tight drumming, showing off the bands heavier side.

Description/Reviews

Como Hormigas reminds me a lot of King Crimson’s Red, albeit with a far more contemporary sound, and one which has been tangoed and fandangoed across the world.
If not the fandango, then certainly comparisons can be made with the tango. ... Argentine tango relies heavily on improvisation and spontaneity. So it seems entirely appropriate to incorporate tango into the blender, along with a good dollop of Argentine folk. Incorporating traditional and folk music into a rock setting is always a dangerous path to follow.

Description/Reviews
Ably supported by the fiery, inspired rhythms ..., the trio ventures through a melange of exotic sonic fare which pushes the boundaries of the traditional power trio well beyond established norms. Transcending his ‘Fripp disciple’ credentials, Reuter rips through this soaring, imaginative set in true authoritarian fashion: establishing, in a most convincing, demonstrative manner, that – beyond being one of the world’s foremost avant-garde performers and composers – Markus is one of the electric guitar’s most capable, imaginative modern representatives.
This Markus Reuter trio is a nuanced, highly-potent-yet-sensitive, forward thinking retake on the classic format — and “Truce” is the spellbinding evidence. Frequently channeling the ‘axe-wielding madman’ side of his musical persona, Markus Reuter doesn’t hold back on this album, takes no prisoners and leaves the dead to bury their own in his wake! For those with a robust palette for all things musically creative, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into here.
