10. Forevers

Credits
Egor Lappo - Vocals, Guitars, Synths, Programming, Mixing, Mastering
Mosa Eye - Artwork

Description/Reviews:
This new album is Lappo’s most focused effort to date - the tight songwriting and sharp hooks result in an album that flows at an exciting pace. A vocal-forward album, Lappo leans even harder into pop tactics to provide catchy choruses supported by crafty song structures and melodic dynamism. Fans of the solo artist’s prior work will rejoice in the continued display of Lappo’s rip-roaring guitar soloing on Skyline, while also finding new intrigue in the riffs and synth concoctions that he boasts this time around.
Lyrically, the album confronts the past and the personal with forward-looking vigor. The zeal of the opening track “Never Look Back” is paired nicely with the electrifying lead single “One More Day”. With their anthemic choruses, this opening one-two punch is sure to hook the listener to Skyline. Shimmery tracks like “When Was the Last Time” and ”Skyline” put a positive lens on the past, while "Soulless Streets” and “Forevers” offer more somber takes on lost memories and frayed personal connections respectively. “Hold This Spark” exemplifies Lappo’s ability to meld prog metal theatrics with pop-banger ebbs and flows.
Skyline is an album bound to appeal to prog metal nerds and stadium rockers alike.

Description/Reviews:
Playing almost every instrument on the album, his main asset is lovely attractive guitar work which brings warmth and great atmosphere to his elegantly foremost instrumental progressive/melodic rock styled compositions that also harbour New Age / Ambient passages. Besides these flourishes there are a few collaborations which brings completely different flavours to his music which would make Monthy Python astonishingly proud! I'll save the biggest surprise for last.

Description/Reviews
As with their first album, Symphony of Mind kicks off with an instrumental track, Ascent to the Point. Written by Howard Helm, it’s progressive rock from beginning to end, reminiscent of some of the great prog bands of the 70s. The track starts and finishes with the organ sound of Dutch prog masters Focus at the height of their pomp but in the ‘meat and bone’ of the music, there’s hints of Yes whilst the violin brings the inevitable comparisons with Kansas.

Marcel Coenen (Ayreon) – guitar solo (9)
Kim de Beer (Symphonica in Rosso) – violin (7)

Description/Reviews
‘Birth’ follows and it encapsulates everything great about this band in a six-minute package. The driving beat from bassist Frank Strokap is like a pulsing heartbeat that works well with Robert Spaninks’s drumming to drive the track on with energy and purpose. The lead guitar melodies over the top are catchy right from the off and the whole thing has a cheeky, irresistible groove. Naturally, Sander Heerings’s synths are all over this song, but they never remain static, changing guise, from sweeping vistas to tinkling piano notes. The verses are a more minimalist affair with just the bass, drums, synths and Ketelaers’ vocals, which suit the soundscape down to the ground, being mellifluous yet strong. The chorus is simply gorgeous, as the guitars re-enter, providing further texture and some welcome power. This is rock after all! Naturally, there’s a lead guitar solo or two, as well as twin guitar harmonies that give me chills.

Description/Reviews
On ‘Soundsphaera’ the brothers produce a mix between melodic metal and more alternative sounds, working with songs that have not a textbook set up. It makes the album sound a bit different than the rest, especially the guitar work sounds pretty over the top at several moments. This is a moody band, one that can go hard, fast and furious or one that be thoughtful and intriguing.

Description/Reviews
"Cipher" mixes elements from Progressive Rock and AOR with a couple of touches of Hair Metal and Synth Rock.
The nine-part, 13-minute "Life and Death of Mr. Ess" opens the album in full-on Prog mode. The listener is introduced to the sound of the record via a QUEEN-esque first section, with jaunty piano and extravagant guitar lines. Through several time signature shifts and tempo changes, the band shows a myriad of influences among which KANSAS, JOURNEY, STYX and RUSH seem to appear the most. Towards the end, beautiful acoustics and atmospheric keys take the track to a euphoric finale.

Description/Reviews
The title track “(Love Is) The Answer” heralds the news that the Franck Carducci band is taking it up a notch as shimmering 12-string acoustic guitar, synth, didgeridoo and a strong chorus of singers welcomes the listener in the first minute. The song continues to progress replete with Close-to-the-Edge-keyboards, punchy bass, a spacious guitar solo and an anthemic chorus that just won’t quit. If this is your first introduction to Franck Carducci, these 8 minutes will likely make you a believer. This song isn’t only a highlight of the album, it’s one of the best of the year.

Description/Reviews
Hamming up their central 80’s prog/rock sound the Stucker’s double down both on the 80’s electronic rock textures (think Journey circa ‘Separate Ways’) of their debut and signature long ‘Floyd styled guitar solos.  Full of interesting ideas and noteworthy cameos, The Watcher is a highly ambitious record which takes time to tells its stories in full rather than editing them down into disposable fillers.  Lush vocals, dream like guitars and rich textures; this is a band full of momentum.
