It opens with an audio lift from the original series telling one adventure against an arch-enemy of Tope and the battles worthy of any Steampunk adventure. You follow the tale from end to end with a solid narrative and characters. Good versus evil, the music and vocals representing the characters well. I hear Hawkwind, Gong, Grobschitt, Public Image Limited and Ashra Tempel all in the mix. Musically it is not hard work yet it is incredibly accessible and has its own unique identity.

Their arrangements force you to completely immerse yourself within each measure. So much that I would compare this album to the glory days of Pink Floyd in that it can change dynamics in an instant without losing the listener. It begs to be enshrined, vacuum sealed, cherished, and studied for the remainder of time as we know it. So that all future generations may know what is possible when we as humans can “plug” our hearts in and make music. What has come about from We Stood Like Kings has embedded itself within me as what Post Rock was, is, should be, and is bound to become. All future instrumental music will be forever changed as a result. All genres as a whole should take note. I am astonished at their ability to make the piano play so many different roles without succumbing to redundancy. Foundation melody, lead hook, and background ambience. I hear a careful dichotomy of opposing melody and symbiotic harmony.

Julian’s classical background mixes with his jazz sensibilities to produce an intriguing blend of the two musical styles, exemplified by the lilting opener Prélude, a piece that combines a flute-led madrigal with slinky jazz bass to great effect....

It is interesting to note that the jazz and classical influences of the first part of the album are now seemingly left behind, as space debris floats through the cosmic drift of Non-Sens, only for those tropes to return for the main part of the tune, a gorgeous otherworldly piece of jazz-chamber rock that slowly becomes ever more confident, with some great cornet blowing from Médéric Collignon.

Music from one of the most specific science-fiction films in the history of Czechoslovak cinematography, and a unique chapter in the rich artistic output of Martin Kratochvíl. On the 35th anniversary of the recording of the material, „Temné slunce” („Dark Sun”) has finally been released.
„Dark Sun” is an adaptation of „Krakatit”, a novel by Karel Čapek published in the interwar period. It tells a story of the inventor of an ultra-dangerous explosive that is trying as hard as possible to hide the formula from the great of this world, to prevent it from total destruction. The film adaptation of Otakar Vávra transposes the story to the Cold War reality, full electronics and secret agents. The film was received as a cheap propaganda trick, but also… as an unusually impressive action movie. The music was composed by Martin Kratochvíl, commonly known as a leader of the Jazz Q group, but „Temné slunce” is far different than his typical work. Industrial spaces in the film were illustrated by the sound of analogue synthesizers, sultry romanticism – by poignant passion of violins and guitar, and the bloodcurdling scenes of horror – by a unique marriage of funk, fusion and cold, sometimes atonal electronic sounds. All was topped up by two songs, including one surrounded by a specific hippie cult – „Válku valce”, sung by Luboš Pospíšil and C & K Vokal group.
Complete soundtrack from the movie „Dark Sun” has been released on CD for the first time, enriched with alternative versions of selected tracks. The material from original tapes has been digitally remastered in the presence of the composer, and a 28-page booklet contains extensive information on the development of the album (in Polish, English and Czech), unique photos and memorabilia.
