Description/Reviews: 

This lack of direction has all but disappeared on “Fervor”, a thing I noticed immediately after the first spin of the record. The album has a much stronger focus on melody and catchiness and in the process, it becomes a way more approachable record. That is not to say that the wacky guitar riffs, wild key changes and heaviness have disappeared though, of which the introductory track “Violent Design” is a perfect example.

... La Partition flows in a similar manner as Februus as a continuous listening experience, but strays in overall tone and technique. La Partition is broken into three distinct movements or acts in a development of the long-play structure of Februus in a way that better allowing the band to explore various conceptual settings and aesthetics while developing musical ideas in self-containment.
For example, the album’s first trio of songs are most reminiscent of the style of music heard on Februus, with bright ambient guitars and syncopated riffing characterized by uptempo songs and a sense of urgency, yet taking the time to foreshadow the darker passages that follow.

Now this is something special! I’m a big fan of bands that straddle that line between Art-Rock and Prog-Rock and this is something that Iceland’s Agent Fresco do extremely well. By all accounts this is the band’s second full-length studio release and it’s a real winner in my books. A total of fourteen tracks clocking in at fifty-two minutes of music that is melodic, bombastic and full of emotionally exhilarating moments. Vocals are sung in a higher-pitched voice, falsetto at times style giving the band a rather unique sound. Instrumentally we go from poppy, hooky segments into crunchy rock guitar avalanches. The album is replete with staccato segments and every changing musical structure, making it a challenge to know when one track stops and the next starts. The great thing about this from my perspective is that it transforms what is typically a set of shorter tunes into a much grander expansive listening experience. This is further accentuated by the powerful open chords on the guitars which really open up these tunes. Along the way there’s a ton of musical change-ups that speak to the band’s musical inventiveness. I really loved this record. Every tune was like a brilliant musical present that when opened brought joy to my listening experience. Its up-beat and compositionally magical.  If you like the music of bands like Mew and Von Hertzen Brothers this should find a welcome spot in your collection. Highly recommended. (Jerry Lucky)

If technicality is your bag, then get a load of these guys. Seriously! Jayus is a complicated well thought out jumble of ups and downs. It’s good, really good in fact, and with its complexity it has to be. There is a fine line with music like this, somehow a combination of bands like Protest the Hero, Placebo and Periphery and only the truly elite can get this right, otherwise it can sound pants. The Hirsch Effekt have no qualms with breaking convention. I mean who really cares if all the chords they play are in key with each other, I know I don’t.
Vocally, there is a healthy mix of aggression and softer tones that come from the singers mouth. This is a fantastic skill to have. With this sort of music every member needs to be the best at what they do and yes they are very good. The overall album quality is professional sounding.
