Thomas Vikström (Therion, Candlemas) – Vocals (5)
Ronny Hemlin (Tad Morose) – Vocals (10)

Description/Reviews
As a starting point, you could say we’re in Lacuna Coil territory with this debut, crammed full of down-tuned, chunky guitars and driving rhythms, but as the album progresses there are touches of Nemesea, Within Temptation, Delain and Lullacry. However, vocal power-house Tina Gunnarsson marks the band apart – whatever the song demands she absolutely nails. Powerful, passionate, melodic and diverse, her vocals certainly give the whole thing an added vitality – the choruses shine, the verses hold your attention every time – it’s a spellbinding display.

Format: digital
Release date: March 30, 2018
Tracklist
1. Some Call Me Cynical (7:07)
2. The Benign Author: Architect (3:21)
3. The Benign Author: Construct (9:16)
4. Nihil (7:18)
5. The Vagrant: Inanimate (4:45)

8. Aperture (3:52)

Total Time 51:33

Line-up
David Lamb: Drums
Ethan Felhofer: Guitar
Isaac Stolzer-Gary: Guitar
Tyler Dworak: Bass
Tyler Koltz: Vocals

Description/Reviews
Coming out of seemingly nowhere, these prog metal wunderkinds are set to release their debut album Prologue on Friday, March 30th. It’s a dense forest of prog metal for anyone who enjoys the stylings of the likes of Between The Buried And Me, The Human Abstract, and the Dear Hunter.
The music of the TWIQH exists to tell a story, and Prologue begins the story of a broken man coming to terms with the person he has become. With his mind quickly breaking down, he searches for an escape from a life that he does not belong in, and a path to somewhere worth living. The song takes many stylistic twists and turns throughout its 9+ minute journey, and every second is worth it to experience the full breadth of the band’s talents. Although it’s a long song, it’s a good choice for an introduction to the band because it’s a microcosm of what the band is all about.
If these guys aren’t going somewhere, then the genre isn’t going somewhere – bands like this are going to be carrying the torch for progressive music into the future, and you’re gonna want to get in on the ground floor of this ambitious prog machine and ride the elevator all the way to the top. Don’t you want to find out what happens to the protagonist next? I know I sure do! (Trey Xavier at geargods.net)

Cosmic Fall "In Search Of Outer Space"

Country: Germany
Genre(s)Psychedelic, Space Rock, Stoner, Jamband
LabelClostridium Records (vinyl)
FormatCD, digital, vinyl
Release date: March 30, 2018 (CD, digital), May 30, 2018 (vinyl)
Tracklist
1. Jabberwocky (11:36)
2. Narcotic Vortex (8:00)
3. Purification (4:11)
4. Lumberjam (6:56)
5. Spacejam (7:44)
6. Icarus (4:50)

Total Time 43:17

Line-up
Daniel Sax - drums
Marcin Morawski - guitar
Klaus Friedrich - bass, vocals

Description/Reviews
'Jabberwocky' veritably explodes out of the starting blocks with a barrage of hard-as-nails riffs that show no quarter...a real adrenaline rush! Things settle into a spaced-out jam with heavy, fuzzed-up guitars that punctuate the vocal sections. The vocals themselves are deep and sonorous and so add even more gravitas to proceedings but it is the instrumental passages that really stand out....periods of psychedelically charged heavy rock that give way to more laid back but equally trippy sections in which the guitar is positively mellifluous and oh so lush! This is high class jamming, not just relying on power and histrionics but also craft and subtlety....a surefire winner in my book!

Description/Reviews
For the last few years, the arena for some of the most interesting new music in the UK has been prog-jazz, and this eagerly-anticipated album from Lydian Collective is one of them. Imagine a hybrid of Zero 7 and Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, then cut out the vocal, and you’re some way towards the band’s sound.

Reviews/Description
It is most ambitious, grandiose and high-flying opus of the band. It is that this album extremely emphasizes strange combination of memorable/hooking melodies and sophisticated compositional structures with complex system of leitmotivs. Such combination of “familiarity and weirdness” is one of the trademarks of ROZ VITALIS.
Conceptually the album is about spiritual/creative constituent of a person in strange dynamics. Such constituent can be called “The Hidden Man of The Heart”. Often this dynamics can be tragic and dramatic when a person is faced with various temptations destroying his or her spiritual/creative constituent. A person can be Trampled and Wounded by such temptations which can be represented in the terms of The Lion and Adder, Jungle, or just Evildoers. Sometimes such person becomes Refugee in the Blurred and Passed Over. And then all that is left to do is to sing, to cry and to scream – in desperation – Psalm 6!
The style of "The Hidden Man of the Heart" – like any other ROZ VITALIS stuff – can be described as the "Unclassifiable Branch of Prog Rock". However, such tags as "Melodic Avant Rock", “Canterbury Gothic Prog” or "Between Sympho Prog and Avant Prog", are, perhaps, also partly relevant.
Music of ROZ VITALIS is about The Ineffable and The Unfathomable. In particular, it is about human aspiration for The Unapproachable Light.

Description/Reviews
What a surprise I had, when sifting through the zeuhl tag on bandcamp, when I stumbled upon this Magyar brutal prog gem. Protoplasma keeps it mysterious: we don’t know who is in the band or how many they are, only that they’re from Budapest! Maybe I should organize a field trip, someday, to make some detective work… They hardly play zeuhl music, their sound is closer to experimental, noise rock, and avant-prog, but I certainly won’t mind the indirect reference.
– (Kötőjel, I guess?) is just over thirty minutes, but it’s filled to the brim with explosive riffs and rhythms, odd, reverberated vocals, and off-kilter compositions. It’s certainly an album that stands out, while showing its roots in psychedelic and progressive music. Kötőjel (-) is inventive and easygoing. You’re sure to have a good time with it! 9. A Strange Road (15:31)

Total Time 59:19

Line-up
Dave Westmoreland - lead vocals, keyboards, backing vocals
Will Lawery - lead vocals (3,7), electric and acoustic guitars, backing vocals
Martyn Howes - acoustic, electric and bass guitars, backing vocals, additional keyboards, saxophone(8)

Description/Reviews
A couple of bands that have fairly recently put out album that I really liked are Barclay James Harvest (North - 2013) and Caravan (Paradise Filter - 2013). In many ways MaterialEyes reminds of these two bands and their more recent records.
Strange Road consists of eight short to mid-lenght tracks, pretty much song based, but they all feature interesting instrumentation and, usually, a cool keyboard or guitar solo.

    Description/Reviews
Over the course of the album we’re treated to some classic symphonic proggy elements mashed up with Zappa-styled quirkiness on reeds and percussion and then every so often the music slides into pastoral melodic passages only to be interrupted at the most unexpected moments by saxophone blowouts or some other cacophonous eruption. There’s even a pronounced Chamber Prog aspect to the music that usually morphs into the band’s more classically symphonic vibe.
