“Spectra” is a bit like a 1970’s King Crimson album, but without any ethereal soliloquies and certainly with a more significant hard rock/metal influence. It is a cauldron of hard rock, jazz, metal, classical, 80’s rock, 70’s rock, and probably a few other things.

The brainchild of producers/multi-instrumentalists Jerry King (Cloud Over Jupiter, Moon X, John Shirley & Jerry King) and Dave Newhouse (The Muffins, Manna Mirage, Moon X), ZZAJ asked musicians to interpret jazz from various conceptual viewpoints, particularly avoiding traditional jazz sounds.

Description/Reviews:
Opus Arise (ft. members of Svneatr, Thousand Arrows, Ysgaroth) is an orchestral metal ensemble that brings together classical strings and metal rhythms to create luscious soundscapes to dissonant chaos. They are about to drop their second album this winter, entitled “The Network”, which will send listeners headfirst into a cyberpunk world where frequencies and chord progressions are believed to be catalysts for time travel. Although there are no lyrics, the theme is easy to pick up on, as the tension, the relief, and the drama of the story are within. Compared to their previous album “Revelation” (2016), their compositions have become less metal driven and they have grown the string section from a trio to a quintet and are planning to incorporate more orchestral instruments.

The 11-song "Seremonia" is a piece of consistent quality from start to finish and perfectly describes the style of the Varjo-Orkesteri. Description/Reviews:
"The first track, Obsessions, acts as an opening. The song contains rhythmic and melodic motifs from each of the tracks on the album. The opening melody acts a bit like the leitmotif of the obsession (whichever it is), returning several times throughout the course of the album. We follow this up with Hoax, a song that incorporates several elements of funk. As hinted by the name of the track, you should not expect the album to respect that tone; on the contrary, the music gradually shifts into something much more sinister and complex" explains guitarist Kevin Paquet.

Description/Reviews:
Merging different aspects, sometimes opposite, of human feeling, bringing them together in a colorful and personal musical proposal, which has its roots in influences ranging from prog 70s to death metal, the band explains the new album in further detail:
"This album is a concept realized with the aim of telling a story that straddles the line between dystopian science fiction and the psychological investigation of the human mind, so the music and lyrics were created in order to reach these goals. We would like the listening experience to be completely immersive. We would like the listener to be able to take a break from the real world and step into another dimension, one that is distant but at the same time well known, not alien, but almost familiar. The listener should passionately follow the events of '6119' in its inner and outer search for reality, in a story that began in the previous album 'Reflections' and will end in the band's next release, so as to complete a narrative trilogy."

Description/Review
Like label mates The Ocean, they straddle the lines of post-metal and prog, avoiding the techy side of things and featuring more folk and cinematic elements than before this time around. ... Psychonaut has crafted eight songs that each stand up on their own. I can start the album at any point and instantly become lost in the brutal yet brilliantly uplifting sound of the band, capturing their messages of hope, soaking in the massive energy of the band, and funneling that into my own reality.

Description/Reviews:
The success of the previous album “Senki madara” with the more obvious 70’s sounds made the band go down this musical road even further. So “Saint-Exupéry álma” is for sure the band’s most progressive album to this point and not only because of its concept approach but mostly for its heavy Yes and Genesis influences off this period. Apart from that, longer pieces, recurring themes and motifs, virtuoso instrumental playing, sophisticated changes in rhythm and vocal fugues are also characteristic.

...the two have given life to a completely instrumental album that defies any specific labeling; with several references to the late 60s / early 70s Pink Floyd and 80s electronic music, this album finds its main sources of inspiration in the Scandinavian prog-rock and in the neo-psychedelic movement of the last two decades.

Description/Reviews:
Chaos Theory is the opening track. A powerful melodical song with a great chorus and a tasty guitar solo. It describes how errors occours both in nature than in our relationship and how everything can change in the blink of an eye, with the flip of a wing. Ready or not, Chaos will find it’s path to our lifes.

Description/Review
The album, “Dream Suite” defines Robeone’s style that grows from dynamic musical genres as wide-ranging a mix of progressive rock, new age, jazz fusion, and cinematic genres. “Hollow,” with its Keith Emerson soaring synth, was inspired by “great film scores.” “All That Razz” sounds like Gershwin fell in love with artsy electric string players, and was influenced by both Robert’s father (who loved jazz) and his favorite contemporary electric violinist Joe Deninzon.  The late Swedish Hammond organist/guitarist Bo Hansson inspired the flowing “Levels.”

“M is for Moog” is Robert’s “tribute to Moog and all Bob Moog gave to the world. The composition is all Moog synthesizer,” Robeone says, and he cites the late Japanese synthesist Isao Tomita, a Moog devotee, for influence on the recording. Brian Auger and Keith Emerson influence the frisky “Jazzmorphis.”  The album ends with an epic musical journey, “Dream Suite,” with moving symphonic organ parts inspired by Deep Purple’s Jon Lord.

In the new album, Kshettra moves away from familiar dark sound worlds. Description/Reviews:
Horror, sci-fi and Cyberpunk legend John Shirley has teamed with guitar ace and musical dynamo Jerry King for a third album, ESCAPE FROM GRAVITY. Several of the songs on this album were adapted from poems appearing in John's 2021 poetry collection, The Voice of the Burning House. Like the previous Shirley/King collaborations, this album fearlessly explores mind-bending themes with virtuoso arrangements... Shirley's weird stories, lyrics and vocals will combine with Jerry King's music to melt your brain.

On Dallas Perkins’ latest release “Experimental Truth” his stellar technical proficiency and dexterity are on full display. We are now hearing six-string wisdom come to full fruition. Showcasing a guitarist that is clearly steeped in melody, the music allows us to join the conversation with breathing room, suspense, and brilliantly placed pauses in these layered compositions. Perkins is not just a guitarist with attention grabbing technique, he is a composer reflecting influences spanning centuries of music history absorbed and personalized over decades finally distilled into a singular artistic statement.
