Description/Reviews
Overall, it was difficult to categorize this album. Prog Rock? Prog Metal? Maybe, but with a tone of different influences that went into it. The vocals varied from all over the place as well. At its core, it is Dark, Gothic inspired Progressive Music that has that distinct Danish feeling to it. You know what I’m talking about. The darkness and mystery are enough to keep any listener interested so I definitely recommend giving his your time.

Description/Reviews
Not a concept album as such – though the songs are thematically linked – and all deal with magic, mystery and the unexplained. It’s a very moody album with lots of interesting twists and turns. This is probably our most musically adventurous album, blending progressive rock, hard rock, folk, orchestral and new age into a melting pot of melody.

Description/Reviews
The title track “(Love Is) The Answer” heralds the news that the Franck Carducci band is taking it up a notch as shimmering 12-string acoustic guitar, synth, didgeridoo and a strong chorus of singers welcomes the listener in the first minute. The song continues to progress replete with Close-to-the-Edge-keyboards, punchy bass, a spacious guitar solo and an anthemic chorus that just won’t quit. If this is your first introduction to Franck Carducci, these 8 minutes will likely make you a believer. This song isn’t only a highlight of the album, it’s one of the best of the year.

Description/Reviews
Fragranced with surrealist sounds, a sharp take on jazz and furious fuzz-rock, there’s something for everyone in this album. Consisting as a trio, Hey Jester have been known up until now as a powerhouse three-piece in their live shows.
Portraying their iconic sound into their studio work seemed to be of great ease for the guys of Hey Jester, and they have already gained supported from media outlets across the web. Excelling into the progressive/alternative rock world, the world is simply in their palm.

Description/Reviews
Hamming up their central 80’s prog/rock sound the Stucker’s double down both on the 80’s electronic rock textures (think Journey circa ‘Separate Ways’) of their debut and signature long ‘Floyd styled guitar solos.  Full of interesting ideas and noteworthy cameos, The Watcher is a highly ambitious record which takes time to tells its stories in full rather than editing them down into disposable fillers.  Lush vocals, dream like guitars and rich textures; this is a band full of momentum.

Description/Reviews
The overall sound has become richer and darker, guitars and bass — heavier, more aggressive. Vocals still range from pure singing to the branded extreme vocals, while in some places the frontman now takes higher notes, in some moments even accompanied by the choir. The album sounds very unusual. And perhaps this is the only thing that confuses in the new BBTSOTKOTS.

Description/Reviews
The Southern French quartet are now returning with a more “typical” HYPNO5E record, if there is such a thing: their 5th album, “A Distant (Dark) Source”, is the second part of a diptych album project. “A Distant (Dark) Source” continues to chase those demons and lost memories which the band has been chasing ever since their debut album “Des Deux L'Une Est L'Autre”: the album is an inward journey to the land of the ghosts of the past. At the origin of this distant dark source lies Tauca, an old Paleolithic lake located in Bolivia. It disappeared more than 15 000 years ago, leaving behind an arid land and salt lakes at 4.500m of altitude in the Andes mountain range. “A Distant (Dark) Source” is the musical imagination of a night in this desert, during which the old shores of the lake see the return of the shadows of the people who used to live in this area before its disappearance.  …but don't be deterred by such conceptual enthusiasm, as HYPNO5E sound is powerful, visceral and immediate. There are moments that remind you of the expansive technical elaborations of BTBAM, but there is also the careful melancholia of Cynic and the sheer power of Gojira... but in the end, all these comparisons fail - HYPNO5E's organic sound is undoubtedly their own. Unlike so many bands who rely on a single sound or technique to create their music, HYPNO5E are not bound to any precondition.

Description/Reviews
Moving right along, Skyblood will please Progressive Metal fans, particularly those who enjoyed the peak era of Queensrÿche. Additionally, smatterings of Septicflesh, and Hellenic bands in general, permeate the album, as do the more aggressive and progressive elements of the various Devin Townsend projects. After an opening peppered with harpsichord and pipes, “Wake Up to the Truth” is much more guitar- and bass-driven, and one of the more complete’ songs on the album.

Description/Reviews
Tusk is not a complex album. It combines progressive and alternative metal influences, infused with catchy choruses and galvanic twists and turns. It's not a difficult album. However so few bands seem able to make fun AND interesting music like this, I can only surmise that it can not be easy music to create... There is something of the Jolly in Somehow Jo's free-form compositions, but this is way more recklessly left-field. Think Saigon Kick meets Fair to Midland in a day care facility run by Freak Kitchen. It's that sort of thing anyway. The vocals are mainly clean and melodious. Oh so melodious.

Description/Reviews
The opening song from the album is the instrumental song "Dreamless Sleep" which has a nice space atmosphere and a deep narration that created a cool ambiance. "Earth Sun and Life" shows what this band is all about, as it has different vocals switching from the female and male clean vocals to the guttural and harsh ones. The instrumental is beautiful, the acoustic guitars here followed by the synths gave the song a great touch. “Aliens" has this cool space sound again and the atmosphere that they created here and its a really aggressive song. I loved how the guttural vocals sounded on this one, they are heavy, strong and tight. This song sounds theatrical, I think that it has an awesome dynamic to be played live.

Description/Reviews
The album opens with Nocturne, a track that sets the stage. It has an ethereal beginning with beautiful orchestration. Once the guitars kick in, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say Andy shreds us into the album! The next three tracks, Becoming the Nightmare, Skyless, and Becoming the Dream all show the more progressive side of the music. ... You feel the “nightmare” versus the “dream” as you go through. Becoming the Nightmare, in particular, has so many twists and turns, not just in terms of scales, but also in terms of the guitar tones and the overall vibe. The beginning has a nightmarish sound for sure but around the 2:30 mark, we go into a mellower pace. The guitars are cleaner this time, and the melody is not so nightmarish anymore. It reminds me of Jason Becker’s haunting compositions of recent. Skyless, which features a guest solo from none other than Jeff Loomis, goes through piano arrangements, progressive metal parts, blast beats, and all kinds of melodic vibes.

Description/Reviews
With the album „Idea of A Labyrinth”, echolons))) are going on another ride through the genre “unconventional guitar music”: somewhere between U2, Incubus, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree, they are looking for their own sound. Echo and atmosphere meet edgy riffs. A great album between Progressive and Alternative Rock.
