Description/Reviews

It is an accessible variety of the style the band have opted to go for here, with frequent shifts into hard progressive rock and occasional lapses closer to progressive metal as well, but with plenty of space and room given over to more careful, atmospheric laden and even pastoral passages along the way. Even with multiple alterations of pace, intensity and arrangements in a song the compositions stay accessible and uphold an easy to listen to mode of delivery throughout. An album to seek out by those who tend to be engaged by progressive rock that by and large is more accessible in nature, and who knows how to treasure a band that also venture into hard progressive rock territories. Progressive rock/metal bands have never been ones to shy away from atmosphere and ‘out-there’ sounds, and FLOATING WORLDS is no exception. First track "Oceania" starts off with about a minute of ethereal, calming ocean sounds, and when the riffing starts, it is soon joined by overlaid symphonic keys, lending a transcendent air to the track. It is an instrumental intro, though there is some chorus ‘ahhing’ added in for effect.

Description/Reviews: 

This is classic melodic heavy metal, spiced with some power, symphonic, and progressive metal, and then wrapped up in some obvious rock groove. To say that this is wildly progressive metal is probably casting our stones to far into the water. There's nothing hyper-technical about the arrangements. There's some gratuitious tempo changes and nice mixtures of instruments, light piano intro and segues against striking riffage, by example. But it's enough to gather some intrigue. Something I did notice, call it a "feeling" more than anything, is that the overall tone of the music is almost melancholy. Not dark, in some creepy goth metal way, but seemingly somber.
