Henno Kelp - bass solo (6)

Description/Reviews:
This is a dynamic creation, with liberal amounts of ebb and flow in just about all of the songs where pace, intensity and arrangements fluctuate in a flowing and logical manner. Crunchy riffs with sharp guitar soloing on top and a vast amount of variations on the guitar riffs, keyboards and guitar soloing combinations are explored ranging from majestic to elegant. Playful, calmer sections pops up at regular intervals, where landscapes with more of dreamladen character are explored, and the occasional left turn into slightly more fusion-oriented territories is a part of the totality too. And while the guitar is the star of this show, we do get a few sweet moments where the keyboards are given the limelight as well. An intriguing and well made album for those who like instrumental progressive metal, and in particular for those who appreciate such albums when they provide variation and what appears to be a focus on dynamic features.

Colin Edwin / Robert Jürjendal “Another World”

Country: UK, Estonia
Genre(s): Instrumental Ambient, Fusion
Format: CD
Release date: March 9, 2017
Tracklist:
1. Blue Mint (5:16)
2. Sancho Panzo (3:56)
3. Memories Of Sand (4:51)
4. Another World (5:20)
5. Hybrid Horizons (6:04)
6. Frozen Fields (5:57)
7. Dance Of Kaia (Earth) (6:19)
8. Tightrope Walk (6:42)
9. My Island (8:20)

Total Time 52:45

Line-up:
Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree/Metallic Taste of Blood/Twinscapes/O.R.k.) - bass
Robert Jürjendal - guitar
   With
Ian Dixon - trumpet
Isak Nygaard - electronica, samples

Description/Reviews:
A finely balanced blend of Colin Edwin’s trademark deep, hypnotic basslines and rhythmic sensibilities paired with  Robert Jürjendal’s spontaneous yet expansive, sweeping and lyrical guitar style, ‘Another World’ reveals itself to be a sophisticated, finely crafted and highly evocative instrumental statement across it’s measured 9 track selection. ‘Another World’ mines a rich seam of sonic inventiveness to create a multi layered and highly engaging blend of ECM style ambient coolness, subterranean atmospherics and cinematographic beauty.
Kicking off with a virtuosic blast from Ian Dixon’s muted trumpet, opening track “Blue Mint” sets the pace with a cascade of echoing bass delays set against glassy and ever evolving guitar textures, complemented by a subtle backdrop of finely wrought, ever changing and pulsating electronic textures.
Other highlights include the deep dub infused “Frozen Fields” , the playful, yet concentrated “Sancho Panza” and “Tightrope Walker”, where Ian Dixon’s FX laden improvisations spin teasingly over Frippish guitarisms met with insistent and propulsive bass patterns.
Album closer, “My Island”, unfolds slowly from an introspective beginning before gradually building to an intense, molten guitar solo, which finally cools into an ambient dialogue between trumpet, electronica and Robert Jürjendal’s artful guitar textures.
Whilst evoking the space, freshness and openness of the Baltic, “Another World”  also showcases an artistically open  and creative partnership with teasing, subtle, intricate and elemental forces waiting to be discovered within a seemingly minimalist environment.

Andrus Lillepea — drums (1–8)
Lotte — „water drop” samples (6)
Six — breathing (9)

Description/Reviews:
Simple Past is a 10-track instrumental concept album based on the notion of temporality of the human world, conveying the realization that even when we work hard and try our best, our lives will sooner or later disappear into the endless emptiness.
The music of Simple Past, composed by Robert Jürjendal, is carried by certain nostalgic, candidly intimate feelings charged with fresh energy and leading into unforeseen turns. Robert’s personal composition style smoothly connects echoes from 1970s prog and fusion with contemporary ambient sounds and techniques.
Compared to Jürjendal’s previous albums, Simple Past puts less effort into loop-oriented music. Based mostly on the relations of guitar and drums, the album provides a wide range of sounds and includes passionate exchanges between players.

Description/Reviews:
Estonian keyboard virtuoso Sergey Boykov, well known as mastermind of Progressive Metal powerhouses Vital Science, is otherwise not a blank slate in the music scene. He already had several opportunities to showcase his extraordinary outstanding musical and technical skills with bands and projects such as Theodore Ziras, Jonas Tamas, Thiago Trinsi, Hedras Ramos, Gianfranco Continenza, Mystic Force and many more.  Now it is time that his own baby "Falling Skies" should see the light of the world. With the participation of great artists and genre sizes like Marco Minnemann, Alberto Rigoni, Gianluca Ferro, Garry King, Fabrizo Leo, Joop Wolters, Jonas Tamas and lots of more, an album was recorded and created which seeks his peers. An impressive mix between Progressive Rock and Metal, with jazzy-influenced elements, sometimes hard, sometimes soft sensitive, sometimes playful and slightly and then again almost bombastic and tough as nails.
