Description/Reviews:
It is an extreme variety of the form that is explored here, and in this case delivered by a band that appear to be rather fond of applying a number of contrasting elements in their compositions. At the most extreme, we get passages of high tempo and high intensity escapades alternating with gentle, light toned and flowing escapades of frail and serene beauty here, the latter often being more minimalist in approach as well as execution. In between we detour into atmospheric laden, dark toned metal landscapes, a little bit of thrash metal oriented passages come calling too, with off kilter and quirky sections that flirt a bit with a more traditional variety of progressive metal included but also majestic, powerful and Wagnerian types of extreme metal being a paid a visit or two. That we have an instrument detail or two with a possible folk music inspiration  may be worth noting too. Atmospheric laden, melodic backing vocals is a feature throughout, and while the lead vocals very occasionally may have a similar form of delivery the main parts of the lead vocals revolve around a style that is twisted, distorted - or both. An album to seek out by those who enjoy a more inclusive, borderline experimental and contrast-oriented variety of extreme progressive metal. (Olav M. Bjornsen at progressor.net's facebook)

Description/Review
Like label mates The Ocean, they straddle the lines of post-metal and prog, avoiding the techy side of things and featuring more folk and cinematic elements than before this time around. ... Psychonaut has crafted eight songs that each stand up on their own. I can start the album at any point and instantly become lost in the brutal yet brilliantly uplifting sound of the band, capturing their messages of hope, soaking in the massive energy of the band, and funneling that into my own reality.

Description/Reviews:
As soon as listeners hit play, they are in familiar yet refreshingly new Cult Of Luna territory, the pulsating rhythms of "Cold Burn" pummeling, and Persson's savage roar tearing through the layers of guitar. As is the case with every album from the band in recent years, there is a lot of shifting of dynamics and sonic density, and perhaps more so than usual on "The Long Road North".

Description/Reviews:
All in all, The Shape of Everything is an album that offers tranquility within its confined space and one that elicits a sense of nirvana you don’t get from most albums. It’s difficult to categorize this album as metal, given the lack of heavy, driven instrumentation and harsh vocals one is more familiar with, but then again, shoegaze is metal-adjacent and this album has beauty in spades.

Description/Reviews:
The instrumental trio Addiktio deliver progressive, blistering sound, by mixing elements of rock, jazz, and metal, into a unique sonic experience. Catchy parts and strong melodies inspired by the open Nordic landscape have shaped their sound into ambient and massive sonic landscapes, filled with mathematical and melodic parts. A brutal, confronting guitar is backed by vintage bass and pure drum magic. It’s catchy instrumentals manage to capture any listener with its ‘in-your-face’ and chaotic expression.

Mauricio Condon: Guitar
José Landín: Drums
   With
Spaceslug (Jan Rutka / Kamil Ziółkowski): Vocals (8)
Federico Dávila Kurbán: Cello (4, 8), Piano (8)

Description/Reviews:
With a defined style, IAH invites us to explore instrumental environments in which psychedelia, post-rock, stoner and post-metal coexist in perfect harmony. Without fanfare, and knowing when to put the intensity, they manage to create songs full of beauty with which to transmit different states of mind to the listener. Long songs in which they express their good work and that are built from the calm, but that contain different oscillations that make them anything, less monotonous. With nods to the characteristic ambient sound of bands like Yawning Man, they manage to combine progressive elements with the quieter echoes of desert rock. A sensory dimension in which its atmospheres trap the listener, providing a reflective environment of great beauty. This is not an album to party, but, on the contrary, it is the ideal soundtrack to find yourself, in a warm, and very introspective environment. An album that may seem somewhat linear at first impression, but which, on the contrary, has many nuances embedded in each of its songs, something that IAH does with the subtlety of a veteran band. Description/Reviews:
Taking notes from the best moments in contemporary progressive and post metal, HIPPOTRAKTOR capture the awe-inspiring power of nature—from the delicacy of the first falling leaf to the massive cosmic energy of the sun. By combining the big, catchy riffs and the rhythmical prowess of Gojira with the relentless but equally groove-loaded complexity of Meshuggah, Meridian delivers an overwhelming experience of sound, presenting the listener with sentiments that are recognisable, but with an intensity that seems larger-than-life.

Description/Reviews:
The first track drags me right into the album. It comes thundering in, really. Post-metal in true Toundra feel. There are more sections like that such as the last section of the last track, but The Run is I think the best example. I cannot stop smiling because of how good that song sounds to me and makes me feel, hitting all the right buttons for my need for post-metal heaviness with progressive structures.

Line-up
Andrew Wells - vocals, guitar
Matthew Dommer - vocals, rhythm guitar
Sergio Medina - lead guitar
James Johnson - bass
Matthew Hansen - drums
   With:
Jon Mess - vocals (11)

Description/Reviews:
Upon the release of singles "Perennial Philosophy", "Counterfeit Shrines" and intro song "Hidden Worship", it seemed as though Eidola stuck to a similar formula as they had become accustomed to on To Speak, to Listen - soaring guitars, downtempo verses, bombastic drumming, and prominent showcasing of Wells' gripping vocal range. The Architect as a whole embraces the established style they adopted on their previous record and rarely takes creative risks outside of this. The trusty interlude-3 song-interlude structure is at play here, with slow, atmospheric breaks in the action in the form of "Occam's Razor" and "Alchemist Ascendant" providing reprieve between the harder hitting tracks scattered throughout this album.

Björn Vollmer - voice (1)
Max Freigeist - vocals (2)
Murphy Montana - harp (4)
Norman van Haven - vocals (5)

Description/Reviews:
The structure of just about all of their songs comes with an obvious similarity to post-rock, in that they develop from a careful and gentle starting point and gradually build towards more dramatic eruptions, and in this case will repeat this line of development once or twice in the songs, usually with a different focus and different sounds, motifs or arrangements used for the repeated development cycle. ... The secondary element brought in from the progressive rock universe here are gentler, reverberating instrument details as well as some fuzzier ones that most people generally will sort under the psychedelic tag. ...A final detail of note is that some of the songs here will feature harder, more metal oriented points in the final stages of the development cycle, which adds a touch of post-metal to the proceedings.

Paul L Jensen - Drums, Keys, Samples
   With
JD Pinkus - Bass (6)

Description/Reviews:
The album as such features a few different types of songs, with careful, dreamlike dark atmospheric creations and a melancholic, dark and atmospheric variety of metal making up part of this production. The rest of this album is devoted to material with more of a post metal touch to it, combining the earlier features with the ebb, flow and textured displays of post-rock explored in more of a post-metal oriented context, building from a delicate starting point and concluding in a massive, majestic and borderline overpowering manner. An album to seek out by those who know and love post-rock and post-metal explored with an atmospheric laden swagger. (Olav Martin Bjørnsen at progressor.net's facebook)

Description/Reviews:
they released this instrumental debut album immersed in the soundscapes of post-rock and post-metal. And sometimes they burst beyond the boundaries of the genre with their heavy guitars, bass licks, dynamic drumming - creating an ambience of emotion, mournfulness and longing. Just the title of the album is enough to get your imagination running. And the melodic, riff-based music it carries lives up to the title´s promise.

Description/Reviews:
Four piece post-rock band from Kassel, Germany Rædsel release Menetekel which is not a conventional post-rock album. Menetekel sheds light on the compatibility of complex and putatively simple music. The music combines complex elements of progressive rock/progressive metal and accessibility and catchiness of modern rock songs concerning the instrumental approach and the song structures.

Dawnwalker defines their sound as post/prog metal; blending modern heavy music with melodic, folk and progressive influences. ...For those always looking for some references or similar artists, I won't be specific because here you can find many of them, from some old Opeth, The Ocean, many post rock bands you can name and some Adrift moments (a Spanish post rock/metal band that also has black metal voices). I know I'm not being of much help here but the music from Dawnwalker is better listened to, than described.

Description/Reviews
OBSIDIAN KINGDOM is devoted to exploring the boundaries of Rock music. The Barcelonan band defies classification to this very day, drawing equally on progressive rock, post-metal, alternative and electronic music. However hard to pigeonhole, it remains consistent with delivering exciting content that never fails to surprise the audience.
‘Meat Machine’ is a frantic attempt at self-discovery, through a head-first plunge into the anxiety derived from sexual frustration, the absurd of reality and the inherent cruelty of a mechanized world. It is an emotional roller-coaster featuring an abrasive and overwhelming sound that draws equally from noise and art rock, post metal and late 90s alternative music.
