Description/Reviews
Four long-form, heavy instrumental songs. Each song is a narrative; three are essays in the form of music. One is a short story. Heavy piano, synthesizers, samplers, bass guitar, and drums. This is not your usual heavy music. It defies convention and conventional wisdom, and trades 7 strings for 88.

Description/Reviews
Continuum is a band playing its own "Dark Cosmic Progressive Metal" which offers a dense and singular music: it plunges the listener with fluidity in rhythmic waves of Progressive Metal, where catchy melodies with non-Euclidean accents to capture the dark depths of a singular universe ... or aspire to the majesty of the heavenly spheres!
Continuum is back with  "Speculative Thoughts", a concept album dealing boldly what the world and the universe could be if it corresponded, to our level, to the descriptions that modern physics made, and shows how we would perceive it.
A journey beyond science as the greatest (or craziest) science fiction writers can imagine ... and speculate!

Erno Räsänen - Drums, percussions

Description/Reviews
... the first album [...] finally saw the light of day in 2011. To my ears, it was one of the most exciting, deep and innovative albums of its day. Yes, for most mere mortals, the idea of a 57 minute long track making up the entire album was, perhaps, too much but, for those of us with the requisite attention span, we were treated to an absolute musical delight. 2016 sees the duo return with the long awaited follow up ‘We Are Left With A Song’ which, this time consists of seven tracks instead of one long ‘paragraph’. The content itself has remained, broadly the same: all kinds of emotionally descriptive, diverse and beautiful music.

Description/Reviews
“Falling Satellites” is Frost*’s most pop-influenced album, without a doubt.  Tackling the heavy concept of the astounding impossibility of our existence and the resulting lessons that should be learned, the album addresses life with upbeat music that get progressively more serene with each track.  So, if you are looking for some sort of retro prog or maybe a heavier sound, they went in exactly the opposite direction.  Unswayed by the modern trends in progressive rock, Frost* have released an album that celebrates the missing progressive pop subgenre with sounds ranging from subtle to sweeping to dubstep.  Yes, dubstep (more on that in a bit).  This is an album that might shock the prog snob in all of us, as it presents us with razor sharp vocal hooks, upbeat melodies, and some songs that might not be progressive at all.  Yet, it also offers incredibly technical grooves, layers and layers of gorgeous sounds, progressive structures, and, of course, some of the best soloing you will ever hear on any album.

Description/Reviews
An epic progressive rock tour de force, BBT's tenth studio album is its most ambitious yet.
Breathing new life into traditional themes and creating a few new ones along the way, the crafts of melody and storytelling beat strongly at the heart of the Big Big Train and inform every track on Folklore.
Featuring an eight piece band and brass quintet - augmented by a string quartet - the album provides a superb showcase for David Longdon's emotional vocals and the band's dramatic extended compositions.

Description/Reviews
... ‘Behemooth’, the opening track on Preternatural.
And from thereon, it's a typically super-tight, and thrilling rollercoaster of a ride that sees the band move decidedly on from their classical prog-folk sound of Moulettes, The Bear's Revenge, and Constellations, into more acutely prog-rock terrain, albeit tempered by classical flourishes, and the odd detour into electronica.

Description/Reviews
Fans of Jimmy Page’s ‘Guitar Army’ approach to composition and arrangement will instantly fall for Roots and Roads. The first moments of Wings immediately introduce the core of what Yossi Sassi refers to as “oriental rock,” multiple string-based timbres merging into glorious melodies while a solid rock groove holds everything down. It’s tempting to listen repeatedly to that track’s intro alone; there’s so much going on that you’ll find yourself picking up fresh subtleties each time you go back. Wings is also a vocal-led track – an interesting choice for someone primarily known for their six-string skills – and a very cool piece of songcraft.

Description/Reviews
The Fall of Hearts, to be released on May 20 through Peaceville Records, continues in the vein of their dark progressive rock catalogue with a record that is diverse and melancholic while incorporating unique guitar work and catchy vocals.
“Takeover” begins with Jonas Renkse’s expressive voice and gently distorted guitars before Daniel Moilanen’s hypnotic rhythms emerge, underpinning a dark, knotted riff a la Tool, but with a distinct tapping section. Though I’m sure many make comparisons between Katatonia and other long-standing progressive acts like Tool, Porcupine Tree and Opeth, this group, ten albums into their career, have developed an identity that stands strong on its own. This driving yet atmospheric opening track gives the listener an idea of what to expect from The Fall of Hearts, featuring melodic vocals, unique guitar work and chilling, minimalist keys.

Description/Reviews
A real smorgasbord of rock styles go into making this EP something to savour. Prog noodlings, heavy riffs, jazzy and spacey interludes all underpinned with some astounding musicianship. Creative song writing from what you would typically call a post metal/rock band, but they are so much more. With sounds of spaced out psych and jazzy rhythms they take it to another level without losing the all important riff!! Still not convinced? Well, they're from Sweden: The land of all things progressive and mighty!

Description/Reviews
As one might expect, Afterglow isn’t the kind of album that reveals itself at once. This fifty four minute effort is rife with moments of brilliance that cover both exceptional individual skill and stellar group harmony, but above all, it maintains an unwavering grip on the listener’s attention. “The Grinning Mist” for example is a beast of a track that comfortably crosses the nine minute mark while boasting segments in 7/4 and 11/8 in homage to the gods of prog. It also features a finely textured melodic chord arrangement that elevates the track with class; a trick that was executed to perfection on “Ashen Crown” where it created a counterpoint to the dark brooding melody on top of the main riff.
