Formerly known as Murder Therapy, Nero Di Marte are an Italian quartet that take their name from an iron oxide molecule that can manipulate other colors with it’s overpowering black pigment. It’s very fitting the band decided this name with it’s description, because NDM are dark, heavy, and have made a true progressive death metal monument. Every song is infectious from their pummeling blast beats to interludes that fascinate. The ambiance, musicianship, execution, everything is astounding.
For the band’s second full length (the band released Symmetry of Delirium under the past moniker) the group play a very mature and thick brand of metal driven by a very dark undertone. Sean Worrell has incredible range as he can muster deep growls as well as high yells. There are times when, if you didn’t know better, you might think you’re listening to pre-The Hunter Mastodon. The beginning of the self titled track brings to light a sound similar to something off of Blood Mountain. Marco Bolognini is a monster behind a drum set. He helps make up a good portion of the heaviness and chaotic tendencies this album presents.
Through it’s six tracks Nero Di Marte might cause insanity from the sheer darkness this album has. It doesn’t strive to be the heaviest, but more about being an incredibly fluid piece of metal. themyriadreviews.tumblr.com
