Description/Reviews
Firstly, there is saxophone (and other wind instruments) and piano that are not used timidly and accompany marvellously the barrage of distortion, screams and blast beats of the rest of the band. Moreover, it’s not just tremolo picking and power chords, there is a wide variety of moments throughout the album, even a guitar lick that reminds me of what CHON would sound like if they had face paint.
The vocals are high-pitched screams, and they oddly fit perfectly fine with the music, even if the rest of the band goes on a limb that doesn’t necessarily sound like black metal. The members are all incredibly talented, and congratulations to the solo instruments (saxophone and guitar) for the great moments here and there on the album. One of the highlights is definitely the sax solo at the end of Inertia, I’m touched!
If you’re looking for a great avant-garde black post-metal album, this one is the one, right now! (Dæv Tremblay at canthisevenbecalledmusic.com)
