Description/Reviews
The music is progressive, but you can also hear deep inspiration from classic heavy rock. Their inspiration can be traced to the likes of Deep Purple, Rainbow, Marillion, Dream Theater, and also Norwegian prog legends Aunt Mary. Still, Permian Incident sounds unique, unlike so many other bands these days. They sound classic, but at the same time they sound like something new. The songs are exciting and fascinating, and at the same time it's catchy and melodic, and really groovy. The Hammond organ spices up the sound and reminds you of guys like Ken Hensley and the late Jon Lord, and the synth are inspired by wizards like Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson. The vocals are amazing, and singer Johannes Hulleberg has a really broad spectre. Also the guitars, bass and drums are fantastic, and these are a bunch of really good, professional musicians, who loves what they're doing. You can feel their passion and love for the music all through the album. The production is organic, and it sounds real, unlike so much of today's music.
