Description/Reviews:
I've seen the band described as "A Perfect Circle with female vocals". But that is only a small glimpse of the whole. Firstly Trope's songs are efficiently-compact and the melodies more striking. Secondly Diana's vocals bring a very different texture and emotive sense to the music. Thirdly, the band brings a whole much bigger bucket of influences to the table; fusing the crossover alt-prog sound of Australian bands like Cog and Karnivool, the pop rock of Evanescence and Delain, the 90s alt-rock of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, and the modern rhythmic intensity of Wheel or Söen.

Description/Reviews:
In my review for Soulrise, I described that album’s sound, but I think it’s pretty applicable to the band as a whole: “… take the artistic, technical songwriting of Dream Theater, add the catchy and beautiful melodies of bands like Theocracy or Vanden Plas and combine it all together with the hard-hitting energy of classic heavy metal.” Angel Born is no different in this regard. It continues on that excellent blend of genres and refines all of the elements that Soulrise had.

Daniel Provenzano: Bass, Synth, Percussion, Vocals
   With
"Harmonica" Dan Balcer: Harmonica (7)
John Schoemaker: Drums (11)
Alex Ward: Organ (11)

Description/Reviews:
"Chart For The Solution" is a double album chock full what makes them tick; heady, progressive, psychedelic space-rock-cum-minimal synth slop, punctuated by MacKay/Chance-style blasts of brass & woodwinds that definitely scratch an itch.
Over the course of "Chart For The Solution"s four sides, Nickles & Provenzano utilize the extended format to stretch out & settle into a groove all their own. From the relentless synth pulse of opener "Rogue Moon", thru the aggro-throb of "Geisterwaltz" & four-on-the-floor scree of "Ganymede", The Squares have no mercy for your weary ears. After a brief, (slightly) mellow respite thru three tunes ("The Abyss Is Never Brighter"/"A Chorus of Electrons"/"The Library"), the band ratchets up the intensity with the cacophonous clatter of "NFU" leading right into the album's centerpiece; all of Side Three's "The Pillars", a near-nineteen minute epic suite that launches the listener straight into the maw of a black hole & thru the other side. Side Four closes out "Chart For The Solution" starting with the slinky stomp of "North Side of The Sky" into "Resurrect Dead On Planet Whatever"s unsettling, cosmic-funeral dirge. Fittingly, "Epilogue" closes out the album, with Nickles' sax dive bombing around Provenzano's bass throb like an alien interpretation of "Funhouse"s howling anarchy, augmented by live drums by John Schoemaker & organ by Alex Ward.

Description/Reviews:
Composed of an open gathering of players, the Italian quintet combines flavours of Middle Eastern scales, droning theremin and guitars. Their flute-player’s frantic, progressive and abstract elements tear open the cosmic gates like Jethro Tull in a Giallo nightmare.
‘Trivial Visions’, is  a wholly unique experience. An enthralling listen in a confluence of sound and ritual atmospheres that craft a both vibrant and hypnotic effect with nods to black metal and extreme ends of the sound spectrum. This vivid, dreamy and cosmic material will transfer the listener to vast sonic dimensions where one could easily lose the way back to reality. Is this Jazz, Stoner-Rock, Psych-Rock or Progressive Rock? This is La Morte Dallo Spazio and they’re in a universe of their own.

Description/Reviews:
The Ageless Gate is the atmospheric debut album by cellist Joost van Dongen. An album full of instrumental music that invokes strong images. Together, the 13 songs tell a tale that spans three centuries, starting with a mysterious artefact and culminating in a gate to another world. The story is told by short text pieces in between the songs, voiced by voice actor Chris Einspahr.
The cello is the foundation of the album, which varies from cello trios to songs with cello, drums, guitar and keyboard. It is unique music with a sound that goes from melodic and euphoric to dark, pumping cello rhythms.

Ana Vitorino: spoken word (1)
Winga: djembe (2)

Description/Reviews:
After a brief interlude of psychedelic cow bells on ‘Pan Arrives’, the lengthy ‘Keep It Long’ is heralded in, swirling, spacey synths, sitar, Djembe, Mellotron and backwards guitars dance around each other creating a dense African accented, Eastern flavoured space rock song which is most appealing. ‘Fibonacci Numbers’, follows this, It’s an entirely different beast, informed by patterns found in nature; it’s a slow languid song which drifts along quite pleasantly. ‘Smoking In The Sun’, slowly unfurls into a cosmic dream. Then we arrive at a three part nature infused song entitled ‘Super Natural’ in the first part the gods of Bacchus, Ra and Varitus are celebrated, with much birdsong and backwards guitar before we drift off into an endless meadow suffused with plenty of ’tron concluding with the spacey bubbling lilt of intelligent light, a terrific suite of songs.

Yoann Estingoy – Guitar
Sylvain Kansara – Keyboard, Folk Instruments
Christine Lanusse – Bass
Jeremy Chababaux – Drums

Description/Reviews:
At one point, the music may almost be purely progressive metal, when all of the sudden there’s an easy-to-follow chorus, and then some strings and woodwinds may create a symphonic interlude, like on Ddulden Flies to His Fate. Especially in these interludes, the album feels like a movie soundtrack, and the band aptly paints the picture of the story they’re telling. Despite the odd time signatures, the syncopated rhythms, and the raw guitars, the music in general is pretty laid-back... In conclusion, Ddulden’s Last Flight is an intriguing record on which Grorr have skillfully mixed progressive metal/rock with symphonic soundscaping. Whereas sometimes the traditional instruments stay in the background and accompany the bass, guitars, and drums, on other tracks it’s the other way around.

Description/Reviews:
In an interview ... Gerben Klazinga told us that his goal was to write an album which has the atmosphere of Knight Areas' 2004 album The Sun Also Rises...
The album opens with the track Forever Alone. After a punchy keyboard/guitar intro the tracks continues in mid-tempo and when Mark Smit comes in it looks like he never was away. What a great voice. The track continues in a mid-tempo and has a lot of varied bridges and intermezzos. The layer of keyboards are overwhelming. Gerben Klazinga is responsible for all the other instruments. He is a multi-instrumentalist and for that I have great respect. Especially for the fact that you don't hear any difference in quality of playing. The tasteful guitar solo is played by Mark Bogert. The solo is very melodic and fits extremely well in the composition. The lyrics of this track tells a story of a man whose parents try to convince him that his woman is not the right one for him.

Description/Reviews:
Compositionally, 'Find the Others' is a remarkably fluid album—movement to movement and song to song, it flows almost as one continuous piece. Featuring five multi-suite, mini-epics -- many of them hovering around the 10-minute mark -- Shiva the Destructor has created a 45-minute space odyssey that’s meant to be listened to as a unified whole. Conceptually, the album follows the adventures of the titular title character, "Shiva", as he traverses the planet on a journey through the history of progressive psych music.

The disc consists of an excellent Progressive Rock that combines the classic sounds of the 70s with a modern vision and projected into the future of the genre. The sound is solid and is built around the intertwining between electric guitar and keyboards, with a massive rhythm session full of tempo changes. The vocal is warm and expressive and adapts well to the different situations of the album, both in the most melodic and in the most aggressive moments.

Will Lawery – vocals, guitar
Martyn Howes – vocals, lead guitar, keyboards, bass, drums
   With
Anthony Naughton – vocals (1, 2, 3)

Description/Reviews:
The album kicks off with “Adrenaline High”.  This track starts with a vocal harmony reminiscent of early Yes, followed by a funky riff played on bass, organ and guitar.  The time signature fluctuates fluidly throughout the song before the grand finale which repeats the earlier vocal motif.  “Fabulist” starts quietly on acoustic guitar and vocal provided by Lawery.  Other instruments are then introduced as the song dynamically fluctuates between light and shade, before a searing moog solo takes the limelight.  “I Have Loved the Stars Too Long”, penned and sung by Westmoreland, is influenced by the poem, The Old Astronomer by Sarah Williams, which is included in the centre pages of the CD insert.  Next is “When Tomorrow Comes Around” centred on a Bo Diddley rhythm and a Nile Rodgers style funky guitar.  “No one Knows” touches upon the loss of loved ones, while “The Writings on the Wall” broaches the difficult subject of the horrors of war.  The last song on Three of a Kind is “Jerusalem Armageddon”.  This track commences with orchestrated strings playing the famous hymn by Sir Hubert Parry.  The track then morphs into Armageddon in the form of a musical battle!  A fight between the lovers of English tradition, landscape and beauty, and those who would destroy it.  Who will win?  Three of a Kind should appeal to traditional  prog rock fans weaned on Floyd, Yes and perhaps Camel.
