Description/Reviews:
The first track drags me right into the album. It comes thundering in, really. Post-metal in true Toundra feel. There are more sections like that such as the last section of the last track, but The Run is I think the best example. I cannot stop smiling because of how good that song sounds to me and makes me feel, hitting all the right buttons for my need for post-metal heaviness with progressive structures.

Description/Reviews:
Jü’s style on this record can be described as a proggy Jazz Rock power trio’s take on Indonesian traditionals with the additional integration of electronic Avantgarde as well as European and African instrumentation; which as a description almost sounds disgustingly academical and distracts from how damn awesome and fun this adventure actually is. So, the only proper way to give you an insight into the twists and turns of this rollercoaster is to take it track by track:

Description/Reviews:
Like many modern extreme metal bands, Pennsylvanian ensemble Rivers of Nihil have been steadily integrating more progressive elements and clean singing into their habitually vicious formula. 2018’s Where Owls Know My Name was an excellent example of that, and unsurprisingly, follow-up The Work goes even further in terms of balancing heavy and light elements amidst its laudable conceptual scope and emphasis on reprised motifs.

Tony Franklin (The Firm, Jimmy Page) - bass (1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9)
Brianna Kieon (3)
Nathan Wilcox (3)
Echo Deva Picone (7)

Description/Reviews:
While the album’s current singles are pure prog, showing influence of Dream Theater and Sons of Apollo, ‘Iridescence’ stands out because it incorporates other influences.  The nearly four-minute opus opens with a drum fill by Thunder, brooding keyboard and equally steady bass and guitar from Franklin and Thal that takes audiences back to the 80s.  Speaking of Thunder, at only 15, his talents on the drums are clear.  His fills, his ability to keep time, and add just the right flare at all of the right moments is impressive.  It is enough to put even some older drummers (this drummer included) to shame.  The collective’s work points to a bit of the big hair ballads of that age before taking on more of a pure prog approach as the song progresses.  From there, the group takes another even more dramatic turn, opting instead for a blues-based rock approach a la Deep Purple.  It makes for such a stark contrast to the other influences.  Yet at the same time the contrast is well-balanced.  It makes the song all the more interesting.  By the song’s end, it will leave listeners fulfilled through that display of well-balanced influences.  It is just one of the songs that serves to show the album’s strength.

Description/Reviews:
It is a distinctly keyboards driven variety of the style that is explored here, with wandering piano motifs and a wide array of keyboards and synthesizers used to create landscapes that are either elegant, slow-paced and gently floating or that are tighter, more driven and energetic. Steady drums of the possibly programmed variety support these instrumentals, and occasionally some guitar details will be thrown in to supply contrast, depth and to add a harder edge. A production  keyboard enthusiasts will have a field day with most likely, and obviously a production those with a strong affection for keyboards dominated progressive rock should have a good chance of enjoying. Andrew Wells - vocals, guitar
Matthew Dommer - vocals, rhythm guitar
Sergio Medina - lead guitar
James Johnson - bass
Matthew Hansen - drums
   With:
Jon Mess - vocals (11)

Description/Reviews:
Upon the release of singles "Perennial Philosophy", "Counterfeit Shrines" and intro song "Hidden Worship", it seemed as though Eidola stuck to a similar formula as they had become accustomed to on To Speak, to Listen - soaring guitars, downtempo verses, bombastic drumming, and prominent showcasing of Wells' gripping vocal range. The Architect as a whole embraces the established style they adopted on their previous record and rarely takes creative risks outside of this. The trusty interlude-3 song-interlude structure is at play here, with slow, atmospheric breaks in the action in the form of "Occam's Razor" and "Alchemist Ascendant" providing reprieve between the harder hitting tracks scattered throughout this album.

Description/Reviews:
Continuing the subtle but profound creative progression in the MONO canon that began with Nowhere Now Here (2019), Pilgrimage of the Soul is the most dynamic MONO album to date (and that’s saying a lot). But where MONO’s foundation was built on the well-established interplay of whisper quiet and devastatingly loud, Pilgrimage of the Soul crafts its magic with mesmerizing new electronic instrumentation and textures, and – perhaps most notably – faster tempos that are clearly influenced by disco and techno. It all galvanizes as the most unexpected MONO album to date – replete with surprises and as awash in splendor as anything this band has ever done.

Description/Reviews:
An instrumental production with an eclectic content ranging from film score oriented material and various instances of more or less electronic tinged material through to alternative progressive rock and a more retro-oriented variety of heavy progressive rock with some symphonic flourishes. Hence I gather that those with a more widespread taste for different aspects of progressive rock should be something of a key audience for this production in general, and then those who prefer music inside such a context to be instrumental in particular.
