The end result is an offering that’s immersive and beautiful, foreboding at times and moodier, but never relinquishing its hold on the consciousness of the listener, the band not necessarily needing volume to make their statement heard. Whether it’s the (relative) surge in the second half of opener “Kim (((o)))” or the sitar-laced drift that hypnotizes into the fadeout of the penultimate “Overwhelmed,” the feeling of serenity never departs entirely from Sherpa‘s sound, giving Tigris and Euphrates a hopeful aspect that bleeds into every song in one way or another.

Description/Reviews: 

The influences are very evident on this release. With The Seer standing out as showing their respect to the legends of progressive metal, specifically Opeth (think Ghost Reveries, but from the UK) and Emperor. An all-round outstanding track (complete with a stunning guitar solo) that really showcases the influences, and the writing skill of the band, with every member shining on it.
In contrast, the title track A Parting Gift has more of a traditional prog rock sound to it, with elements of it reminding me of King Crimson and Porcupine Tree. Soft acoustic passages, crescendos in all the right places and soaring vocals are laid out for you here.

From the first listen you can tell this is a band that aims to set itself apart. With the beautiful guitar work, silky bass lines, and super skillful drumming, the band brings a tasteful chaos to progressive music that few others have lately. The music on Paradigm is study in meshing genres, but keeping the feel and emotion out front. True, it has plenty of bangers that call to mind the best bands in the scene like Between The Buried and Me, Scale The Summit, TesseracT, early days Intronaut, Animals As Leaders, Glass Cloud, The Contortionist, Aviations and more. However, some of the best moments on the album are parts that pull you in with sweet bass licks or Jazz-inflected guitar passages.

...these guys blend Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, & Tangerine Dream styled space rock with earthy Scandinavian prog for an upbeat, groove laden, trippy listening experience. Plenty of synth driven blips, beeps, and chirps fluttering among these six lengthy tracks, zig zagging across the arrangement on the engaging near 11-minute "Master Architect", and adding a symphonic, at times New Wave-ish feel to the upbeat "No Rest for the Wicked", a song that also features some cool, jazzy sax that when mixed with the psych flavored vocals reminds of early '70s Hawkwind.
