Description/Reviews:
While Bloom & Breathe sure carries that post-emo/indie/post-rock/post-hardcore/whateveryouwanttocallit sound, there’s an essence here that shows Gates is much, much more than just another in a long string of bands that should have signed with Deep Elm Records... One of the most noteworthy aspects of Bloom & Breathe is how impressive it is as a single listen. The album flows beautifully, trading off airy, post-rock dynamics with pensive post-hardcore with ease. The problem is that it seems to tail off a tad after “Born Dead”. The remaining four songs are all solid enough, but they lack the perfect ebb and flow of the preceding nine songs. It’s a small issue, but it weighs down what could have otherwise been an album of the year candidate.Read the full review by Nicholas Senior at newnoisemagazine.com
