Description/Reviews
These guys play melodic power metal that is heavily inspired by more progressive bands like Symphony X, Dream Theater and Opeth, and here and there Nevermore. At some point I also get reminded a bit of Masterplan and the Swiss melodic metallers Desert Sin.
Unfortunately though they dont manage to really impress, and that while everything about them is just right. There is good musicianship, the compositions sound well thought-through and contain the necessary amount of variety, and also on vocal matters everything is fine. Francesco Filippone voice is a matter of taste and it is quite prevalently present in the mix, but the man can definitely sing. Despite all this the album doesnt get on track and I need a lot of effort to keep myself focused. In this regard, the total playing time of one hour is a little bit too long. At first I thought that this was also due to the fact that the music contains many details which are not initially revealed, but even after several listens, The Prophecy doesnt take hold of me. However, the fact that the whole thing is also a bit too progressive for my taste isnt irrelevant. Fans of melodic, melancholic, progressive power metal however should give this band a chance.
