Description/Reviews
Black metal. Progressive rock. And everything inbetween. The debut (and sole?) album of
Italian / Norwegian trio ORGAN: is just that – a cornucopia of sounds derived from and inspired by an incredible wealth of sources. Impossible to narrow down to a specific genre, «Everything is pared down. Minimal Expectations» finds itself sitting comfortably outside practical convention. It is simply music - sometimes abrasive, often beautiful - yet always fascinating and inspired. ORGAN: unite the past, present and future, as childhood memories blend with road-weary contemplation and universal wonder.

Description/Reviews
The epic title track announces its intentions via an atmospheric acoustic piano and strings soundscape that perfectly compliments the fantastically nautical themed cover art. Around the two-minute mark, an angular, harmonic minor guitar-led transition chockfull of synchronous hits and double-kick drums breaks the song open. Moving through a wide array of metallic styles, “The Sirens” highlights the band’s ability to seamlessly blend a mix of power, death and progressive influences into a single package. This is characteristic of the best progressive metal bands, particularly ones on the more extreme end of the spectrum, but I’ve always thought that Into Eternity’s focus on melodic fist-raising power-metal inflected choruses was the rug that really tied the room together.

Description/Reviews
The album contains 3 atmospheric long tracks moving into a warm hypnotic post-rock sound, very fresh and catchy! It starts with “Waves” (10:33) with a dream peaceful scenery under a strong poppy balladesque environment, a steady powerful rhythm section that increases or decreases the intensity at times while the song obtains a wild mellow hard-rocking style towards its end.

Description/Reviews
King of Twilight is released in anticipation of Theater of the Absurd's forthcoming full-length prog opus, Death in Aspiration. Featuring two adventurous new compositions and an inspired take on a Nektar classic, this EP demonstrates the band's maturity and spectacular elan. The title track is a new interpretation of the 1972 original, invigorated with blistering intensity and the outfit's signature male/female vocal scheme. "Adrift in Time" is an introspective and emotionally complex piece of music that incorporates a string quartet to great effect. In "Cor Inquietus," an ambitious progressive affair that's exclusive to this EP, intricate instrumentation and an extended Fender Rhodes solo take center stage.

Description/Reviews
Heads-up all you lovers of Canterbury Prog, here is the latest from Kris Gietkowski. So let me start by saying no one loves the Canterbury sound more than Gietkowski. I previously reviewed his album that displayed his musical interpretations of Egg’s album The Polite Force and here he’s back with three tunes that in many ways perpetuate that musical genre with his own personal spin. These three instrumentals ... bear all the hallmarks of music from the early seventies created by such bands as Egg, Hatfield and the North, Caravan and so on.

Description/Reviews
They can best be described as a mix of post-rock, space-rock with a definite characteristic to border on the avant-garde. The track ‘Monotransitive’ certainly goes off into distant territories with a slow, awkward crawl which builds a slight tension in the atmosphere. The three drummers aren’t heavily utilised in this track but they certainly are in the opener ‘Serial Staging’ with the drummers working as multi-tracked layers but in a physical and not programmed setting. It’s easier to separate each drummer’s playing in certain songs rather than others: ‘Monotransitive’, not really; ‘Orbital Pertubation’, more so.

Description/Reviews
The sixth official work of Twenty Four Hours is a double album intentionally inspired in the form and substance by the four most important white albums in the history of rock music.
  • Closer by Joy Division
  • The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis
  • The Beatles (White Album)
  • The Wall by Pink Floyd
Unlike the much appreciated previous Left-To-Live, it is not a concept album, but a collection of songs that embraces many stages of the band’s creative life, including ambient veins (Intertwined), progressive with a long suite inspired by Supper’s Ready of Genesis (Supper’s Rotten) where profound mutation of values is exasperated, compared to those of the past, rock (The Tale Of The Holy Frog) and punk ones (77). In this last song that opens the album you meet aggressive punk atmospheres with echoes of King Crimson, and a spectacular final battle without exclusion of shots between the Hammond organ and Hendrixian guitar.
