Description/Reviews:
On The Ending Earth... features smart progressive rock/pop songs that have a sound that incorporates classic pop, progressive rock, and even heavy metal at times. These folks thread lots of cool loud guitars into the songs and yet...the melodies are surprisingly accessible and poppy at times. While listening to this we're reminded of Nine Inch Nails, Walt Mink, Smashing Pumpkins, and Jane's Addiction. And that's just the start. But while we can hear sounds and ideas that remind us of others, we never ever get the idea these folks are trying to ape the sound of any one artist or band. These tracks are smart and inventive...and ultimately very listenable.

Description/Reviews:
Pyramid is an exciting new entry in Jaga Jazzist's discography – relentless in its exploration of a variety of styles that seem rooted in jazz but are not limited to the genre. It evokes a certain vibe that can certainly come off as retro-leaning, but at the same time, this is a band unafraid of innovation and forward-thinking.

Mattias Ohlsson - Everything

Description/Reviews:
But wherein lies the difference from the Octavarium albums? Why the sudden name change? The answer to that ... lies in the fact that Illuminations' offerings are forcefully different and furiously heavier, pulling it unmistakably out of the Octavarium realm. Not entirely though, for there are still many tantalising similarities detectable.
... And where Ohlsson's previous efforts shuddered and rocked my world, this one is capable of arousing an actual earthquake, for Ohlsson most definitely has upped his game on the heavy department. Previously images of Magellan, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater and Pink Floyd stepped into the spotlight. Those names are now greatly overshadowed by bright flashes of Haken, Tesseract and Devin Townshend.

Jakob Skøtt (Causa Sui) - Drums

Description/Reviews:
The music here spans from bustling jazz rhythm section work-outs with abstract sounds to laid-back electric psychedelic jams. Generally, the difference is whether Rude is playing double bass or guitar so you can actually see the join. This is not a problem however as the album does have coherence with good quality performances

Description/Reviews:
“You won’t get far” opens with harsh vocals, followed by an almost Power Metal sound, complete with galloping drums and harmonized clean vocals. With minimal harsh vocals, this song makes more sense to me. Some keys and a guitar solo follow the second chorus. “Mine Complete” opens with a heavy and aggressive guitar riff and some symphonic elements. I still get more Power/Symphonic elements her than Progressive ones. A keyboard solo followed by a guitar solo come into play after the second chorus. It’s obvious that the team here is talented. “You push me” opens with a slower pace, and lower instrumentation. Becky’s vocals are very well done, and the chorus is full of a nice melody line. At this point in the album, I should have at least some of my mind made up, but I don’t.

David Cross (King Crimson) - Fender Rhodes, Electric Violin
Fabio Trentini - Bass
Asaf Sirkis - Drums, Percussion
Mark Wingfield - Electric Guitar
Robert Rich - Textures

Description/Reviews:
It's jazz; but sort of "anti-jazz," too. It's progressive, yet clearly supersedes any preexisting templates or traditional standards. It's avant-garde, while soaring above and beyond typical confines, there, as well. And it's 'free jazz,' but with preconceived structure of sorts.
Recorded live in the studio, every song is a mesmerizing journey, weaving seamlessly between various coarse and fine textures, where moments of tranquil harmony magically morph into spells of delightfully chaotic dissonance, stampeding one minute, and tip-toeing, the next.
