Kenn Nardi (Anacrusis) - Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Drum Programming, Sequencing

Description/Reviews:
The first two tracks, ‘Unnecessary Evil’ and ‘Fragile’, give the listener a pretty good idea of what extreme spectrums the album is going to cover. ‘Unnecessary Evil’ sounds like the bastard child of The Cure’s Disintegration and Anacrusis’ Screams and Whispers. There are the technical metal and symphonic elements that dominated Screams and Whispers but the tempo, atmosphere, tones and emotional angle all scream Disintegration. The second track, ‘Fragile’, rips the listener right back to the early 90s with one of Kenn’s piercing screams, a breakneck tempo and the kind of calculated riffing that defined Manic Impressions. That’s one of the great things about this album; each song is going to be a surprise. You never know if the next song will be a thrashy Anacrusis-inspired track such as ‘Await the Setting Sun’ or the New Model Army goes prog of ‘Submerged’ or the surprising emotive ambience of ‘A Little Light’.

Description/Reviews:
The freakish debut album by Schizoid Lloyd - a Dutch progressive metal unit whose incredible musical hodgepodge of interests shine through within moments of the 57-minute release – effortlessly hopping from Queen-fueled vocal harmonies to Mr. Bungle lounging to Leprous progression to short outbursts of lunar insanity and even a dash of singer-songwriter sensitivity and white boy rap (when required).  Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart would be very, very proud.

Tom Johnstone - synths

Description/Reviews:
Comprised of hypnotic and supremely orchestrated guitar riffs and crashing drums with pulsing rhythms, ‘Kintsugi’ is primed to rattle your ear drums and will surely pull you in.
Although hAND can be loosely described as a Prog band, when you peel back the aural layers, you’ll find a definitive edge that sets the band firmly apart from its contemporary counterparts. Progressive and heavy, yet accessible, hAND have unearthed a sound that is innovative and engrossing. They call to mind the thoughtful webby depths of ‘Opeth’, meshed with the proggy groove of ‘Amplifier’ and the gothic guile of ‘Paradise Lost’. Acutely marrying carefully formed visceral guitar parts, dynamic drums, and alluring vocals, hAND have a strong focus and a clear vision of what they want to produce.

JÜ & Kjetil Møster "JÜ Meets Møster"

Country: Hungary/Norway
Genre(s): Jazz-Rock
Label: RareNoise Records
Format: CD, vinyl, digital
Release date: November 3, 2014
Tracklist:
01. Dear Johann (07:08)
02. Bhajan (08:59)
03. Morze (for Ágoston Béla) (09:38)
04. Hassassin (08:43)
05. KJÜ (02:46)
06. One (14:43)

Line-up:
Adam Meszaros - guitars
Ernö Hock - electric bass
Andras Halmos - drums
Kjetil Møster - saxophones, clarinet

Description/Reviews:
First up is "Dear Johann," which starts with sax and drums in a stuttery mid-tempo improvisation that gradually builds. Two minutes in, the guitar and bass sneak in, ramping up the intensity to a screaming Mahavishnu-like riff that morphs into a sort of Hendrix/Cream style backing for guitarist Àdàm Meszáros to go nuts with. This is sweet stuff, rather along the lines of Raoul Björkenheim's Ecstasy reviewed a few months back. "Bhajan" starts out with a meditative mood, but wanders through much territory, with an insistent 5/4 groove from bassist Ernö Hock backing much of its length. Drummer András Halmos has a knack for coming up with patterns that defy simple coherence to the odd meter, but mesh perfectly with the bass.

Bjorn Riis "Lullabies in a Car Crash"

Bjørn Riis (Airbag): guitar, vocals
   With:
Henrik Fossum (Airbag):  drums, percussion
Asle Tostrup:  loops, effects

Description/Reviews:
“Lullabies in a Car Crash” feature six songs with a coherent and thematical composition. Bjørn’s soulful guitar playing and low-key vocals creates a rich listening experience. Although Bjørn as a guitarist have developed his own sound with a unique tone and his own technique over the years, the playing and tone are reminiscent of David Gilmour, Steven Rothery and Steven Wilson. As a singer this is the first time he takes the lead, normally doing the backing vocals in Airbag. His singing style is in the area of the mellow vocals of Tim Bowness and Nick Drake.

Description/Reviews:
Osada Vida, one of the most interesting Polish bands on the prog-metal scene, return with a brand new album. " The After-Effect " is their first release after the line-up change in early 2014, when Jan Mitoraj and Marek Romanowski joined the band. Their highly acclaimed previous album "Particles" made the band work even harder on the follow-up material. Łukasz Lisiak comments on the changes and their impact on the new album: "I think, the new album is a continuation of a certain road, the album 'Particles' being its last stop. Certainly, the approach to composing used on the album 'Particles' was also used while writing songs for the new album - the structure of songs is more simple, as we were trying to avoid excessive complexity. We are using Marek Majewski's talent as much as possible, so finally we no longer have to hide or shorten the vocal parts. At the same time, however, we are still amusing ourselves with all those little twisted, very atmospheric parts known from our previous releases.” The new album brings surprises. One of them is a guest appearance of a string quartet.

‘Caerus’ sees HeKz following in the footsteps of prog metal’s founding fathers Queensryche, Fate’s Warning & Psychotic Waltz by taking influence in equal parts from heavy metal legends and prog rock luminaries, mixing powerhouse vocals and death-defying fretboard acrobatics with creative arrangements and exotic time signatures without becoming indulgent or overcrowded. HeKz always put the song first, and the 10 tracks on their debut album demonstrate the band’s aptitude for songwriting.
