Sometimes, and I do mean sometimes, an undiscovered jewel from the past is brought to life. ‘Runaway Men’ is a record that was recorded in 1997 by the Dutch rock band Galaxy but the album remained unmixed and was never released. It even did not have an official title. Until now….
Soaring riffs, stunning soli, pounding rhythms and vocals that just nails, supreme. This is the approach taken by French progressive metal stalwarts Spheric Universe Experience, as they get to their fifth studio album, titled “Back Home”. With a superb production from the talented producer Damien Rainaud, the Symphony X, Dream Theater and Queen-inspired music from the Code d’Azur quartet is a statement, carved in stone! “Back home” does not only mean back home to Earth for the space-travellers in the story of the concept, but it also means back home for the band, as they have returned to their original roots: to compose and create true, progressive masterpieces, for every album they make.
The band keeps on exploring the landscape between progressive rock and fusion. They have clearly found their style and showcase an album filled with catchy hooks, singable melodies, strong grooves and blistering guitar solos. Mixing genres and taking inspiration from a wide array of styles including progressive rock, jazz rock, fusion, AOR and pop has resulted in eight powerful tracks. Produced with meticulous attention to details, the album has a crystal-clear modern sound that truly is supermassive.Media/Samples
Speaking about the new song, guitarist Nick Lee says, “I really wanted to go all the way ALLMAN BROTHERS or HENDRIX on a MOON TOOTH song. We’ve definitely flirted with those sounds on songs in the past but it felt really good to just go all the way bluesy-country and unabashedly old school rock and roll. I think this song is a testament to the fearlessness with which MOON TOOTH writes music. We will flirt with any genres we want and it will still sound like us.”
The journey towards the album "Livsgaranti" began in 2017, the band explain. Several of the songs on the album were premiered at the release party for the same year's self-titled debut album. The process of releasing a record always takes longer than one might imagine. One day, the song 'Livsgaranti' was spontaneously unpacked, and we transformed it into what it is today. An additional bunch of songs were welcomed into the world; songs that we love and have chosen with care. A new record emerged.
Drawing expansively not only from classic doom, but also prog rock and grunge among others, they have a brilliant sound that is incredibly hard to pigeonhole into a single subgenre. It’s made for some incredibly broad and eclectic records that have gained the band a sizeable following since the release of their debut self-titled EP in 2015. The band’s second album II: The Ground Below is not only a fine example of this in action for those unfamiliar with their music, but also sees their already expansive sound develop even further, making this their most ambitious work to date.Read the full review by Danny Sanderson at distortedsoundmag.com

The album is a collection of vocal and instrumental tracks around an overall theme of cognitive errors, particularly overconfidence, and our repeated failure to learn from history.
The album is broadly within the genre of progressive rock, but includes elements of alt-rock, classical music, minimalism, and electronic music.
The band’s rebirth saw them going back to their earliest influences, and ‘Above Cirrus’ sees them reaching ever deeper into the atmospheric, cinematic psych-prog compositions that made ‘Eupnea’ such a rapturously received return. Based around the core trio of Jon Courtney, Chloe Alper & Greg Jong, the new album manages to expand the bands sound palette ever further.
