Description/Reviews:
The fruit of their union is condensed into two long and exciting suites of almost twenty minutes in duration, marked by the inevitable odd tempos, with the monophonic synthesizers and the organ tracing the bass lines. The sound texture is made more precious thanks to the use of the original timbres of the seventies.

Description/Reviews:
Dark Before Dawn ranges across various styles, but is always engaging in theme and musically captivating. Anyone expecting Patterson and Melbourne to mimic the classic ‘Prog’ tropes of their former band will need to look elsewhere as this is a fresh contemporary rock album which is accessible and fascinating. Dark Before Dawn stretches the musical palette significantly in comparison to The Divide.

Dino Cerruti: Bass (2, 4, 8)

Monica Giovannini: Choirs, Backing Vocals

Description/Reviews:
Musically, "Uomini di Sabbia" (Sand-made Men) moves on the path already undertaken with the group's debut "Nebulosa" (2016) and the following "Era" (2018), with energetic guitars, Genesis-ish atmospheres and odd-signature songs, structured and complex yet catchy at the same time, thanks to a considerable attention to production and sounds that lead to a fluent and flawless listening experience.
"Uomini di Sabbia" is not a classic 'concept album', but all its songs are bound by a common theme: the human being, his weaknesses and inability to contrast abuses - hence the sand metaphor - but also the courage and the spirit of adventure that make man capable of rebelling against injustices; in short, a honest hard-prog rock interpretation of these difficult times, that ends with the long suite "Egos", specifically themed on 'Big Brother' and utopic freedom.

    With
Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson, The Aristocrats, Mike Keneally): drums
Arno Menses (Subsignal): vocals (3)
Tanyc: vocals (6)
Yogi Lang (RPWL): keyboards, programming

Description/Reviews:
Kalle Wallner's first proper solo album is a mainly instrumental affair, combining energetic hard rock with atmospheric laden progressive rock, and with a liberal amount of Floydian moods and atmospheres adding flavor to many of the songs. Those who know and appreciate the material released by Blind Ego as well as RPWL will find quite a lot of material that will be of interest and that will be familiar sounding. More guitar driven and guitar dominated though, especially compared to the latter, and an interest in instrumental music will be needed to get the most out of this album. But, at least for now, I'd send fans of Blind Ego and RPWL to this album prior to anyone else.

Description/Reviews:
"Encounters" is the debut album of "The BlueMoon Projects".
It's a Progressive/Space/Art Rock album that is always shifting, changing pace and styles. All songs have their own distinct musical identity, differing in mood and feel but in a way that complement each other. All sounds used are meticulously chosen to act not just as sound effects but as a way of storytelling.
The story is told through the lens of science fiction. Realizing how bleak humanity has become, the main character makes Contact and is given the choice to escape.

Alisa Coral - keyboards and synthesizers, all guitars, flutes, electronic percussion and drums

Gabriel Monticello - bass guitar (3,6), upright bass (5), contrabass balalaika (2)
Yael Kroy - piano (6)

Description/Reviews:
International spacerockers Space Mirrors are back with new album "The Obscure Side of Art" which is a sequel to their debut "The Darker Side of Art". This time leader Alisa Coral changed the approach and with fellow musicians from USA recorded an album of completely instrumental music. On this musical journey they are exploring the boundaries of Space Rock, Krautrock, Folk Rock, Psychedelic and Progressive. While music is original the certain influences of such bands as Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles, Ship of Fools, Tangerine Dream can be heard. Lots of different instruments were used while creating the arrangements - from guitars, synthesizers and flutes to contrabass balalaika. Each of six lengthy tracks was inspired by the story of its own. And every composition also has separate page in the booklet with unique art created by the longtime collaborator Kevin Sommers.

Fromuz is a band that I recall as more of an eclectic oriented unit that draws in impulses from many different aspects of progressive rock, and even after almost a decade of silence this is a quality the band still has a desire to explore.

I always admire interesting and avant-garde, but well-balanced approaches to metal like this. This album is another reminder how heavy music doesn’t have to be just blast-beats and growls to make your stomach turn.

Description/Reviews
It is an accessible variety of the style the band have opted to go for here, with frequent shifts into hard progressive rock and occasional lapses closer to progressive metal as well, but with plenty of space and room given over to more careful, atmospheric laden and even pastoral passages along the way. Even with multiple alterations of pace, intensity and arrangements in a song the compositions stay accessible and uphold an easy to listen to mode of delivery throughout. An album to seek out by those who tend to be engaged by progressive rock that by and large is more accessible in nature, and who knows how to treasure a band that also venture into hard progressive rock territories. Description/Reviews
Dutch project Choreomanic are out with the album "Choreomanic", and this is a production that for me at least feels like a natural fit into a progressive rock context. Funky basslines is a core foundation throughout here, delivered in a manner that reminds just as much of Les Claypool than Red Hot Chili Peppers, and just about as important as the bassline are liberal amounts of brass bursts of the kind, character and nature that adds something of a jazzrock feel to the proceedings. Song structure and development, rhythms and various effects all come in to be a natural and fit and sometime adding a subtle emphasis on the expressive, experimental and playful nature of it all. That the majority of the songs are short, tight and vibrant affairs also needs to be stated I suspect. An album for those who enjoy progressive rock of the kind that is a bit more out there, expressive and experimental in nature. (Olav M Bjornsen at progressor.net's facebook)

Description/Reviews:
The third Weserbergland album, Sacrae Symphonia no.1, was inspired by music spanning more than 5 centuries: Venetian late renaissance music to the sonic exploration of avantgarde composer Karlheinz Stockhausen and the german experimental rock music scene in the 70s and beyond.   Some of the music of the sole 40 minute long track has been written and some of it have been improvised. But all of it has been edited with heavy hands by composer/producer Ketil Vestrum Einarsen using code language and open source software on inexpensive single board computers.  The end result is an album spanninng athmospheric classical elements, experimental electronic music, full on noise rock assaults and anything inbetween.

Description/Reviews:
The theme of the disc is the geological eras before the appearance of man on earth, with the music emphasizing the Prog side of the band. The album opens with “Quadrivium” characterized by a soft intro of guitar arpeggios and a deep vocal, the keyboard inserts give a markedly Prog touch to the song. The track is enriched with tempo changes with the intensity that increases with the passing of the minutes, with forays into the harder music, always of a Progressive matrix. Energetic and with a massive sound, it recalls the sounds of the Heavy Prog bands of the early 70s, with excellent keyboard textures and hard guitar riffs that alternate with more symphonic passages.

Sandro Cuzzetto - everything

Description/Reviews:
The latest four song EP from Canadian artists Sandro Cuzzetto has been called "inimitably eccentric progressive psych-rock", but the overall style can be hard to define. Influences from progressive and classic rock are fused with "dirty disco grooves, polyphonic scores, indie psych melodies, uplifting Enya vibes" (Amelia Vandergast) and others, creating what some have called "a prominent distinctive style... an example of how music can take you to other worlds" (Al Massey). However you want to describe it, Sandro's music is both complex, changing, and familiar all at the same time. Tracks on this EP revolve around the state of our world now, exploring themes of protests and social media in the title track "Sign of the Times", relationships in the track "Minor Impact", and civil unrest in the song "Civil". As well, true to form, the final track, "Time", is a heavy progressive instrumental reminiscent of Dream Theatre sprinkled with influences of Rush, Porcupine Tree, and even Iron Maiden. This is an EP that will take many spins to completely digest.
