“Aeon Illuminate” is the starting track of the album and first single released by Grossman. At first, it may sound very familiar to the followers of his career and full time band but a closer look may convey that the similarities are only found on his drumming, which he’s developed to the point it became his signature “Hybrid” technique that can’t be easily emulated by others with the same diligence and grace he does. The phrasing is less complex than what he’s used to play but it is well elaborated, showing Grossmann’s skills as a versatile composer that can get out of his comfort zone, or instrument in this case, and change the spotlight to each part of the instrumentation when adequate.
