Besides 11 original compositions, two movements from Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe (BWV1060) re-imagined through Garone’s rhythmic lens, along with a refreshed take on Robert Fripp’s “Erudite Eyes”.

The result is a seamless blend of compositions and collective improvisation that roves way beyond the usual generic categorisations making the album hard to pin down as either jazz or rock. Anchor and Burden is an uncompromising progressive avantgarde doom-jazz post-metal band based in Berlin, Germany, which has their own style of collective instant composition that defies the norms of creation. They create monolithic doom behemoths only to tear them into shreds with boundless energy in the next moment.

The two 8-string touch guitaristsMarkus Reuter and Alexander Dowerk conjure a wide array of moods with their unique instruments: From ethereal whispers out of sci-fi realms ot cerebral virtuosity that fractures the very psyche unto crushing metal brutality that leaves the listener gasping for their breath.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich weaves a web of synths and self-modulating percussive machinery, an arcane undercurrent beneath the towering monoliths of guitar, as fi sentient space stations traverse the void.

Drummer Asaf Sirkis, the virtuoso master of rhythm, wields his jazz and Indian polyrhythms not merely to forge a pulsating heartbeat, but also to break up and shift the quartet's music into unexpected places with his complex hyper jazz rhythms.

Dennis himself wanted to take the next step by looking at traditional and modern music in Central Asia. From the Uyghur homeland of Xinjang, the Altai and Tuva regions of Russia, and Tibet, Rea is like an anthropologist discovering various forms of world music... The closing track, ‘The Fellowship Of Tsering’ is as prog-rock as you’re going to get. So don’t expect any elves in the shire. Laying down heavier organ parts and some synths to get the train running into more tunnels ahead, it is part Ring Van Möbius, Beggars Opera, and Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti-era thrown into the mix.

It's jazz; but sort of "anti-jazz," too. It's progressive, yet clearly supersedes any preexisting templates or traditional standards. It's avant-garde, while soaring above and beyond typical confines, there, as well. And it's 'free jazz,' but with preconceived structure of sorts.

Recorded live in the studio, every song is a mesmerizing journey, weaving seamlessly between various coarse and fine textures, where moments of tranquil harmony magically morph into spells of delightfully chaotic dissonance, stampeding one minute, and tip-toeing, the next.

With an emphasis on band interaction and sheer joy of playing, ‘Our New Earth’ celebrates music from both Sirkis and Bialas, covering a wide range of influences such as contemporary classical music, Polish folk, Progressive rock, South Indian and Middle Eastern musics as well as a wide range of dynamics – from the most delicate ballad all the way to high-energy electric lines and everything in between; expect soulful melodies, aerospheric sounds with strong grooves, a full colour electroacoustic jazz with an ethnic touch and some uncommonly used instruments and sound effects.
Although Sirkis/Bialas IQ’s music can sometimes be generically referred to as ‘vocal jazz’, Sylwia’s approach to singing is different; making the role of the voice more like an instrument rather then a lead.
