Description/Reviews:
Immersed in their love for Psychedelia, for the Cosmic Rock of the 60s and 70s, for instrumental landscapes in which to lose themselves and find themselves again, for an ancient but now more than ever revolutionary idea of Rock played with humanity and fragrance, Alex Savelli and Tommasi Michienzi imagined a record that could give voice to their passions and brought their instruments into play: guitars, basses and vocal strings for the former, the latter’s electronic collection of synths, theremins, plug-ins and other magic toys. Decisive was the contribution of a talented young drummer, Andrea Lamb D’Aniello, who gave a twist to the material already set up. Invited to play on very spartan loops or sequences, the drummer had to imagine dynamics, evolutions and scenarios that were barely hinted at; later, many of those minimal references were completely abandoned and the duo worked on what the drummer had created. An unusual way of composing and producing that gave Ghostpiracy, mastered by Pino Salviati, great freedom of expression.
The mixing was taken care of by the duo, as were the evocative titles of the tracks, which required much meditation and discussion, given Ghostpiracy‘s mainly instrumental nature. Amid shifting and reckless tracks with echoes of Pink Floyd, Krautrock, vintage Electronics, heretical Progressive and Psychedelic fury, Ghostpiracy is a grand homage to the freedom of music.(Olav M. Colin Consterdine – beats, keyboards, electronics
Lee Relfe – sax
Glenda Pescado – bass
 With:
Elfin Bow – vocals (8)

Description/Reviews:
“And Man Created God” consists of 9 tunes, it starts in a slow futuristic way with “Aeolian Sunrise”, it has a cinematic feel and the band builds a Proggy-Ambient-like and Eastern-influenced Neo-Prog soundscape… On “Exodus From Ur”, the scenery becomes Space-Prog with a sharp Krauty attitude and a mood to experiment… On “Deuterosophia” the band makes another scenery-changing, serene, ambient music with a trippy beat and a gentle Sax sounding and an even more trippy guitar sound, creating a quiet relaxing atmosphere acting like an after-midnight let-loose jam that towards its end becomes cinematically orchestrated!

Description/Reviews:
...a hell of a trip it is, too, roaming freely across modern electronica and the oldest, earthiest folk, the most dronesome of motorik and the molten mantle of acid rock.
The band is the feverish brainchild of David J. Smith, otherwise of Guapo and Miasma & the Carousel of Headless Horses, and thus a name well appreciated by voyagers out into more esoteric sonic landscapes.

Mike Risberg - Additional guitar (3, 5, 7)

Description/Reviews:
Composed of both newly written material and songs that haven’t found their way onto a release before, Hirschbrunnen is a treasure trove of wonders, impressively covering ambient, electronic, prog and psychedelic rock. Much like his work with Elder, the songs DiSalvo’s written here reveal themselves gradually, taking the listener on six uniquely stimulating instrumental journeys. Comparisons to his band are bound to be made, and perhaps Hirschbrunnen’s nearest relative would be The Gold And Silver Sessions EP from 2019, which saw the four-piece embrace a more ambient, prog-influenced sound.

Daniel Provenzano: Bass, Synth, Percussion, Vocals
   With
"Harmonica" Dan Balcer: Harmonica (7)
John Schoemaker: Drums (11)
Alex Ward: Organ (11)

Description/Reviews:
"Chart For The Solution" is a double album chock full what makes them tick; heady, progressive, psychedelic space-rock-cum-minimal synth slop, punctuated by MacKay/Chance-style blasts of brass & woodwinds that definitely scratch an itch.
Over the course of "Chart For The Solution"s four sides, Nickles & Provenzano utilize the extended format to stretch out & settle into a groove all their own. From the relentless synth pulse of opener "Rogue Moon", thru the aggro-throb of "Geisterwaltz" & four-on-the-floor scree of "Ganymede", The Squares have no mercy for your weary ears. After a brief, (slightly) mellow respite thru three tunes ("The Abyss Is Never Brighter"/"A Chorus of Electrons"/"The Library"), the band ratchets up the intensity with the cacophonous clatter of "NFU" leading right into the album's centerpiece; all of Side Three's "The Pillars", a near-nineteen minute epic suite that launches the listener straight into the maw of a black hole & thru the other side. Side Four closes out "Chart For The Solution" starting with the slinky stomp of "North Side of The Sky" into "Resurrect Dead On Planet Whatever"s unsettling, cosmic-funeral dirge. Fittingly, "Epilogue" closes out the album, with Nickles' sax dive bombing around Provenzano's bass throb like an alien interpretation of "Funhouse"s howling anarchy, augmented by live drums by John Schoemaker & organ by Alex Ward.

Tracklist
1. Compton (6:00)
2. Chandra (3:41)

4. Hubble (21:21)

Total Time 40:51

Line-up
Jannes Ihnen - Guitar, Synthesizer
Richard Schröder - Guitar
Claas Ogorek - Bass
Tommy Handschick - Drums

Description/Reviews:
Opener Compton feels like a giant airplane slowly taking off, while Chandra kicks off Jimi Hendrix style and upholds this smoothly swinging retro vibe. Spitzer is a lot spacier already, with a riff that feels like coming through a missile silo and trippy motorik beats. Finally, Hubble is the album’s tour de force with its 20+ minute space trip. It’s like the band landed on the moon, and weightlessly jump-walks through craters and eerie moon desert sands.

Keeping up the momentum with a constant motorik groove, Shem explore both moments of atmospheric calmth and distorted maelstroms of psychedelic bliss, offering the listener a gateway to descend into their realm of musical experimentations once again.

Country: Germany
Genre(s): Instrumental Psychedelic, Fusion
Label: Kryptox
Format: vinyl, digital
Release date: November 27, 2020
Tracklist
1. Der Inder (5:13)
2. Der Kaelte (5:46)

5. Gentrification (5:50)

Andreas Kainz - Fender Rhodes, synthesizer, organ, keyboards
Marcel Maier - bass
Louis Bankvas - guitar
Jakob Graf von Thun - drums
   With:
Marja Burchard - vibraphone (1)
Sascha Lüer - saxophone (4)

Description/Reviews:
Karaba’s album starts with a slightly arabic feel. The repetitive groove of “Der Inder” gets the listener immediately into a different south-eastern space. Later the music gets more animated, more structured and more uplifting. A whole universe of little influences. Shades of certain Jazz and prog-rock bands: you might think about the canterbury scene of the 1960ies and 70ies. There are textures reminding of Soft Machine, Frank Zappa, Mats and Morgan, Kraan and maybe some Passport influences. (Another band from Munich that left a huge footmark in the worldwide jazz fusion history).
The whole Karaba sound has a certain 1970es feel. But not in a pure retro way. The LP sounds more like a modern psychedelic 2020 Lofi Indie Jazz thing – a sound that fits well in these wild times and finds its place in the actual scenario of new jazz bands worldwide.

2. Caraval (8:13)
3. Folded Sun: Prelude (1:45)
4. Folded Sun (4:36)
5. Sacral (4:53)

Total Time 36:15

Line-up
Nicholas Whittaker (Diagonal) - Alto & Soprano saxophone, Clarinet, Duduk, Electric guitar, Flute, Hulusi, Kalimba, Penny whistles, Percussion, Recorder, Synthesizer, Vocals
   With
Luke Foster (Diagonal) - Drums (4), Percussion (2 & 6), Synthesizer (6)
James Howarth -  Bass guitar (1, 4 & 7)
Lisa Watt - Vocals (2)

Description/Reviews
‘Umbra’ is bookended by the long, spiralling sax lines of ‘Lofoten Dance’ part 1 and 2. Set against a backdrop of sparse bass and wandering African thumb piano, its sonic space perfectly evokes the isolated splendour of the Norwegian archipelago it was inspired by and in many ways the still, mysterious atmosphere that is witnessed during a solar eclipse.
Some of the most beautiful moments of light reside within ‘Caraval’ and ‘Sacral’. The former, a joyous major key drone that blissfully meanders along complemented by a panoply of percussion that has echoes of Popul Vuh at their most ecstatic. The latter is a wonderful expression of serene contemplation based around a simple, ascending two note synthesiser figure that conjures up some of the best ambient works of the ECM catalogue.
Further musical exploration of shadow is represented by the formidable power of ‘Qamar’, whose finale is replete with prayer bells and tribal percussion, bolstered by Whittaker’s multi-part vocal harmonies over a bed of droning synth and ethnic wind instruments - drawing comparisons to the cinematic work of saxophonist Colin Stetson.
Further notable use of vocals is to be found as the album’s centrepiece: ‘Folded Sun’. A deep slice of Kosmiche beauty propelled by Diagonal bandmate Luke Foster’s cyclical drumming, the result is akin to something that Robert Wyatt, Hawkwind and NEU! may have concocted if they had triple booked the same recording studio.
