Description/Reviews:
Self-described as an alternative-progressive-pop-orchestra, that’s about as close a description as anyone might pin on them, which roughly translates to our inevitable conclusion: most music fans are going to find something to love about them. The strengths of MEER are multi-faceted. To begin with, there are not just one but two lead vocalists, each one surpassing what you’ll find in most of MEER’s peers. Their delivery is impassioned, artful and convincing. That one is a man and the other a women (siblings, in fact) adds even more to MEER’s wide-reaching arc. Then we have the additions of violin and viola to the traditional instrumentation of piano, guitar, bass and drums. A full orchestra indeed, rounded off with a well-balanced production which can make each member’s contributions sparkle. All of this promise would be beside the point without inspired material and in that regard MEER unquestionably succeed, having laid down 11 sumptuous original compositions and one re-invented cover song as a bonus track.

Gianpaolo Caprino - Guitars
Massimiliano Pagliuso - Bass, Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals
Alessandro Marconcini - Drums

Description/Reviews:
The music does have its fair share of hard edges, but it often has as much in common with hard rock and progressive rock as it does with extreme metal. And thus the songs include a range of vocals, from high, soaring song to ferocious growls, and savage snarls. The songs also incorporate shifting tempos and changing moods. They include darting and jolting riffs and fervent solos, neck-cracking snare beats and hard-charging gallops, but also stately cadences and soulful melodies.

Total Time 42:10

Line-up
Jean-pierre Larouche : guitar
Nathanaël Labrèche : guitar
Julien Daoust : drums
Hugo Veilleux : drums
Vincent Savary : bass

Description/Reviews:
Bisbâyé may be most notable for including two guitarists and two drum kits, with the two guitarists answering each other’s riffs and the two percussionists answering each other’s beats in real time, and the bassist being the musical fulcrum. This polyrhythmic superposition creates a compelling stereo effect .
The band’s leader cites Don Caballero and Meshuggah as influences. King Crimson’s influence is also undeniable, so is the sophistication of the math-rock genre’s best acts, while you can find some of Larouche’s favorite composers (Steve Reich, Gyorgy Ligeti) in there as well.

Description/Reviews:
The Catch debut their own brand of Prog Neue, paying homage to the sound of the neo-progressive bands of the 80s and aspiring to the intensity of classic 1970s Prog. Excuses For Kings muses on the contemporary, secular, faith-stories we all tell ourselves, as Kings in our own time, watching the sun set on our fragile empires. Packed with catchy hooks and melodic ambition, the neo-classical pomp is well tempered by lyrics of real existential punch and romantic swagger.

Label: 3 in 1 Records
Format: CD, digital

2. When It All Comes To Pass (30:25)

  With
Brian Workman - electric guitar solos
Frank Williams - acoustic guitar
John Eargle (Supernal Endgame) - lead guitar and effects
Chuck Tidwel - electric guitar solos

Description/Reviews:
KDB3's efforts fall in the Christian progressive rock field... his lyrics are well written, much like Kerry Livgren's (Kansas, AD) refined poetry, and not too overtly obvious towards his devotion, unlike for instance Neal Morse. ... Bowers conveys his message beautifully as it lifts off into grand open spaces reminiscent of Pink Floyd and Higher Circles. The majestic tapestry of keyboards ignites further Eloy graciousness. It bows down slowly into lovely conversations of piano, while heavenly church organs bring-forth visions of Sunrise Auranaut's electronic soundscapes.

Description/Reviews:
New album “Walking Up That Valley” continues the line of development from the band’s past two releases, which dug more deeply into the Canterbury Prog only hinted at by the band’s first outings.
With the group’s maturity has come continued exploration, evinced in a plethora of instruments heard across the album: harpsichord, violin, flute, a choir and more add layers of sonic beauty to an album already bursting with ideas.
Between dreamy vintage keyboards, busy drums and percussion, mind-bending, jazz-tinged guitar work and deft bass lines, Klakegg’s soft and melodious voice finds room in the mix, tying the album together with tales from the road between reality and fantasy.

Description/Reviews:
...with Songs For The Apocalypse, you can throw glam metal and/or classic rock out the window. To these ears, the larger musical context is progressive rock characterized by dense heaviness from layers of riffs, synths and synth orchestration, large, yet often muted, vocal arrangements, and sometimes lingering guitar lines (which can also seme muted, but then rise). ... Alternatively, there's something like Anthem For Losers which, while also dense and heavy, has a lively rhythm and groove, nearly sounding like fuzzed out Sixties summer music.

Franck Avril - oboe (10)

Description/Reviews:
A musician that loves to travel, a good deal of Hackett's music in recent years has been inspired by the various places he's visited and the sights he's seen. Under A Mediterranean Sky is no exception and as the title alludes, it's a musical cruise around the Med, with portraits and impressions of the picturesque lands and waters enclosed by Southern Europe, North Africa and South-West Asia. Musically, the album is a showcase for Hackett's clean and fluid acoustic guitar playing, supported by longtime collaborator Roger King's symphonic soundscapes.

This is an album of progressive rock music with shades of electronica, art rock, cinematic rock, spa and jazz fusion. Overall it is a progressive and cinematic rock album that sounds like a combination of Pink Floyd, Rush, Tangerine Dream and the ethereal and some jazzy aspects of Pat Metheny Group.

Description/Reviews:
Dennis himself wanted to take the next step by looking at traditional and modern music in Central Asia. From the Uyghur homeland of Xinjang, the Altai and Tuva regions of Russia, and Tibet, Rea is like an anthropologist discovering various forms of world music... The closing track, ‘The Fellowship Of Tsering’ is as prog-rock as you’re going to get. So don’t expect any elves in the shire. Laying down heavier organ parts and some synths to get the train running into more tunnels ahead, it is part Ring Van Möbius, Beggars Opera, and Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti-era thrown into the mix.

Description/Reviews:
One thing I especially love about this album is how much clarinets dominate proceedings. ... Clarinet and bass clarinet are almost constant in the mix, and conspicuous in their absence – so that when either returns it never fails to make me smile...  I have no idea how I would describe the music. The band say it’s a mix of the “neoclassical, avant-garde, ambient, progressive, post-jazz, chamber music, modern creative and other genres”

Description/Reviews:
The album is a collection of suites and pieces written for film or inspired by film as storytelling. It's style goes from quiet soundtrack type of avant garde pieces to epic Afro-Dominican Jazzodelic Progressive movements. The idea is to release short stories that are the "scenes" that are inspired by the music or that have inspired the music on this album.
