God Is An Astronaut "Ghost Tapes #10"

Niels Kinsella - Bass
Lloyd Hanney - Drums
Jamie Dean - Guitars, Piano
   With
Jimmy Scanlan - Additional Guitars (2,3,6)
Jo Quail - Cello (7)

Description/Reviews:
Ghost Tapes #10 ... rather than pick up where the quartet left off in 2018, explores a radically different approach, with the focus fixed on movement and intensity. While the album is certainly the most ferocious GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT full-length to date, it still retains all of the rich musical and emotive elements the band is known for by maneuvering around luminescence whilst offering harsh, deep reflections as well. Works of art like “Burial”, “In Flux” or “Barren Trees”, with additional guitars by Jimmy Scanlan, amongst others, are proof of these sonic illustrations.

Eric Lowery: Guitar, Bass

Description/Reviews:
If you were invested in that phase of melodic-djenty-progressive metal from 2010-2015, you’ll probably love this, or at least appreciate the nostalgia. It had a certain appeal to people of my age range (20-25) with this enthusiastic charm and novelty to it that you could go down a rabbit hole. From early-Intervals, to bands like I Built The Sky, or Widek. The crisp production and writing style, especially for instrumental acts, quickly felt familiar and easy to come back to. For Giants harness that same energy with youthful, emotive melodies balanced with playfulness and bouncy polyrhythmic grooves. The hints of a Tides of Man style post-rock add a unique expressive tone in what is one of the first standout instrumental metal albums of the year. (heavyblogisheavy.com)

Description/Reviews:
This self-produced one-man-band will take you on a heady journey filled with screaming guitar solos, eclectic arrangements, and a dizzying range of styles and emotions. Using elements of prog rock, metal, blues, jazz, rap, EDM, pop, and classical music, the debut album, Archetype Asylum, explores the depths of the psyche with the psychoanalytic tools of Jung, Freud, and Lacan. It is a story of loss and growth through encounters with archetypal projections of the unconscious, reconciling light and shadow, candor and jest, fear and love.

Description/Reviews:
A musician that loves to travel, a good deal of Hackett's music in recent years has been inspired by the various places he's visited and the sights he's seen. Under A Mediterranean Sky is no exception and as the title alludes, it's a musical cruise around the Med, with portraits and impressions of the picturesque lands and waters enclosed by Southern Europe, North Africa and South-West Asia. Musically, the album is a showcase for Hackett's clean and fluid acoustic guitar playing, supported by longtime collaborator Roger King's symphonic soundscapes.

Description/Reviews:
New album “Walking Up That Valley” continues the line of development from the band’s past two releases, which dug more deeply into the Canterbury Prog only hinted at by the band’s first outings.
With the group’s maturity has come continued exploration, evinced in a plethora of instruments heard across the album: harpsichord, violin, flute, a choir and more add layers of sonic beauty to an album already bursting with ideas.
Between dreamy vintage keyboards, busy drums and percussion, mind-bending, jazz-tinged guitar work and deft bass lines, Klakegg’s soft and melodious voice finds room in the mix, tying the album together with tales from the road between reality and fantasy.

Description/Reviews:
Síndrome de Estocolmo documents a series of events leading up to widespread draconian incarcerations by a state, and explores the theme of whether detainees would ever develop Stockholm Syndrome - an irrational compassion that victims form towards the captor. To depict the evolving story, songs on the album offer a variety of styles, including hard rock, avant-garde metal, classic progressive rock, alternative/pop art rock and psychedelic rock. Listeners will find a healthy dose of rich heavy guitars, ethereal sonic textures, interjected with emotional melodic lines.
