Description/Reviews
Listening to Tardigrade Space Rock! (De la Renaissance) by Clay Green's Polysorbate Masquerade Band felt like I had found lost demos from Jethro Tull that would have been recorded for an album released between Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play.
Sure there are also other influences from that era that pop up (Focus, Gentle Giant, ELP...) but the Jethro Tull feel hardly ever goes away from this very entertaning album.

Stylistically An Altered State of Joy blends low-key neo-prog (think Hogarth-era Marillion), with the more cinematic, ambient moments of Pink Floyd and Camel, and a big new-age vibe (Nigel Mazlyn Jones springs to mind a lot).

Description/Reviews
...it sounds like they have taken on a bit of a psychedelic tinge themselves, particularly on the bewitchingly haunting “The Whole Where Your Heart Belongs.” On “Returning To The End Of The World”, the band’s menacing crunch is balanced by Kirkevaag’s seductively melodic vocal lines, some of the more accessible of her career. She can still belt out wails just as powerful, even more so than when she was 17 years younger, but there is a blossoming tuneful sensibility that surfaces at least in part on every track. On “Fallow Season,” a crunchy guitar riff would likely have escalated into something fairly bombastic on an older album. Instead, there’s a graceful groove that ties it together with a smoother flow, despite the fact that the band does get worked up into some shouts and punishment of their instruments before the end.

As their name suggests, Son of Man are related to the legendary Welsh band Man.
A fine collection of 11 original songs, the album follows in the tradition of Man’s music but also has a contemporary edge. Significantly, Son of Man includes the track “Pale Rider”, a completed song begun by and featuring a solo from the late Micky Jones. Son of Man is an album that continues the legacy of fine, original rock music hailing from Wales.

Total Time 40:27

Line-up
Haris - synths
Theoharis - guitars, vocals
J. Demian - bass, acoustic guitars

Description/Reviews
Mayhem in Blue ... retains the 70s flavor but chases the rabbit even further down the hole. It’s weirder, carnival-esque, swinging. Hammond organs, flutes, and electronic sounds feature more prominently. Compositionally it’s similar but the unorthodox instrumentation is prevalent and the black metal is stretched still thinner. Moments of true blackened ferocity are few and while tremolo-picked guitars and blasting drums are present and correct, their heaviness is gentler: always meshed with keyboards or a jaunty rhythm. Clean vocals are commonplace too but used with lurching tempos and odd vowel emphasis. It’s an eccentric listen but never unsettling – more like the overly chatty guy at your post office than the one who touches your arm too much.

Description/Reviews
Noveria can be seen as the darker little brother of DGM, another Italian power prog band, and their sound is quite similar: melodic power metal with heavy keyboard incorporation, a pummeling rhythm section and occasionally unconventional song structures. The sound calls Symphony X to mind, as well as Evergrey who also love their dark emotional themes without turning to harsher soundscapes. Dealing with a complex and sensitive subject while employing such high-speed bombast is a tightrope act few can pull off, but Noveria have an ace up their sleeve with Francesco Corigliano’s voice: the man is extremely expressive, and songs like opener “Shock” would not be as strong without him.

Roberto Minniti - vocals

Description/Reviews
“Different Earths” comes then six years after its predecessor, renewing its formula and giving us a band still inspired, that prefers, to the display of instrumental technique typical of certain progressive rock standards, a more delicate and linear, heartfelt and exciting approach. Eris Pluvia’s reference names have not changed over time: hints of Camel and Pink Floyd can be heard especially in the guitar solos, in the flute melodies and in the sustained keyboard sounds.
Indeed, this release finds its strength in the pastoral simplicity of its songs, which succeed in the difficult task of being up to date while referring to groups and sounds of the past.

The group has perfected their own distinctive and enjoyable style of fusion, but there are undoubtedly times when their music displays some of the characteristics associated with artists that the band cites as influences. These include a range of jazz/rock - fusion/funk players such as Scott Henderson, Dave Weckl Band, Oz Noy and virtuoso performers such as Alain Caron and Avishai Cohen.

Description/Reviews
Anatolian Rock was one of the most authentic and distinctive contributors of the first global psychedelic upheaval in late 60s and early 70s - and it still echoes in the works of Turkish modern rock bands. Indeed, modern Turkish psychedelia is something that is fully connected to the roots of a natively global sense of expression, which can be easily discriminated from other national products such as American Garage Bands, German Krautrock and British Psychedelia. The uniqueness of Turkish psychedelia is hidden in the historical and geographical exposure of its musical psyche.
Comprised of previously unpublished psychedelic songs by modern Turkish bands, “The New Generation of Turkish Psychedelic Volume I” is the first compilation album released by Ironhand Records. In this compilation you will find new and mind blowing sounds of Turkish psychedelia:
The album opens with the aggressive rhythm and raw melodic bass lines of “Profesyonel” by Yarımada, which is the only song with lyrics in the album. The second title, “Lala’s Song” by irtifakaybediyoruz! is a rage of melancholy amidst wisdom and despair. The third title, “Floodgate” by Help! The Captain Threw Up is a moody yet fluent piece that carries influences of psychedelia and post-rock.  “Azim”, the punchy, clear-cut last title on A side, is performed by Balina from Izmir, which -with their own definition- is a hearty band in love with dark riffs and sorrowful psychedelic sounds. The B side opens with “Ran” by milankundura, which takes us to a thought-provoking trip over a cloud of jazzy sounds. And the closing piece, Lopenstraat’s 15-minute epic “Hike”, is a nerve-shredding adventure in a dusky forest of acoustic and electric sounds.
