Description/Reviews
Black metal. Progressive rock. And everything inbetween. The debut (and sole?) album of
Italian / Norwegian trio ORGAN: is just that – a cornucopia of sounds derived from and inspired by an incredible wealth of sources. Impossible to narrow down to a specific genre, «Everything is pared down. Minimal Expectations» finds itself sitting comfortably outside practical convention. It is simply music - sometimes abrasive, often beautiful - yet always fascinating and inspired. ORGAN: unite the past, present and future, as childhood memories blend with road-weary contemplation and universal wonder.

Description/Reviews
The album contains 3 atmospheric long tracks moving into a warm hypnotic post-rock sound, very fresh and catchy! It starts with “Waves” (10:33) with a dream peaceful scenery under a strong poppy balladesque environment, a steady powerful rhythm section that increases or decreases the intensity at times while the song obtains a wild mellow hard-rocking style towards its end.

Description/Reviews
The sixth official work of Twenty Four Hours is a double album intentionally inspired in the form and substance by the four most important white albums in the history of rock music.
  • Closer by Joy Division
  • The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis
  • The Beatles (White Album)
  • The Wall by Pink Floyd
Unlike the much appreciated previous Left-To-Live, it is not a concept album, but a collection of songs that embraces many stages of the band’s creative life, including ambient veins (Intertwined), progressive with a long suite inspired by Supper’s Ready of Genesis (Supper’s Rotten) where profound mutation of values is exasperated, compared to those of the past, rock (The Tale Of The Holy Frog) and punk ones (77). In this last song that opens the album you meet aggressive punk atmospheres with echoes of King Crimson, and a spectacular final battle without exclusion of shots between the Hammond organ and Hendrixian guitar.

Meticulously crafted, with an increased use of electronics and low bass frequencies, “False Memory Archive” is both darker and groovier that its predecessor, whilst still maintaining that familiar Oak sound, which is neither wholly progressive pop, nor progressive rock, but a happy amalgam of both.

Description/Reviews
The EVERSHIP sound just oozes quality - The keyboards are melodic and symphonic, yet edgy and dramatic at the same time; the guitars range from powerful to sensitive and the rhythm section – much in the same way as YES – runs the gamut of tight and driving to sensitive and atmospheric. The standard of musicianship is high; the compositions are classy with quality production, ranging through melodic, hook-laden songs with incredible anthemic choruses and gentle ballads, with plenty in the way of bombastic, complex arrangements with extended instrumental arrangements going on in-between.

Description/Reviews
...the addition of Becca Langsford’s lead vocal on a couple of tracks is refreshing and harks back to the female vocals fronting much of 1996′s second solo foray The Meeting.  Barre-ophiles may regard Roads Less Travelled as closer in spirit to that earlier album than the more recent solo output.  ...
The emphasis is unashamedly on the song structure and an upbeat vibe throughout.

Description/Reviews
New Levels New Devils opens with “Nasty” which includes a feature from Jason Richardson. Slick and sassy while relatively sedate, the grandeur of bass and rhythmic drum taps, and electronic samples adds to this ever growing layer cake of sound. The drop pulls us into spangled rhythmic grooves with both flare and alarm.
Becoming more dense and intricate, a brief moment of silence heralds a distinctly bending section, before we’re taken back out into ‘prettier’ flare; an addictive and bouncing melody, creating something relatively chilled, which sets the stage for Jason. Razor sharpness of Jason’s guitar work coupled with sedate drums, smooth and urging bass, and delicate piano flourishes feel like a momentary handing of the baton. Until the drums insist Polyphia’s return and Jason and Clay A. all but have a ‘music-off’.

Reviews/Description
There’s a narrative running through the album and reading the booklet along with the tracks is a must, the powerful opening instrumental The Land of Lost Content introduces a more heavier sound before Roll For Initiative opens Tom’s story, ‘he could hear voices in the music; voices the rest of us could not, voices which instructed him in the science of time travel.’ Already you can hear the new direction that the band are forging, there’s a great jazz rock vibe coming across, especially with the brass section.

Description/Reviews
With four-fifths of doomly doom purveyors Lesbian in their ranks, Fungal Abyss reach outward into an interstellar creative wash, finding the background noise of the galaxy and channeling it through max-volume wah in order to convey their exploratory sense. Comprised of two songs, each consuming an entire vinyl side, ... it’s a noisier brand of heavy psych than one jams of the form often bring, and has a darker undertone of mood than one often expects from even the most churning of tripped-out improv.

Line-up

Rémi Matrat - Saxophone
Joesselin Hazard - Drums
Alexandre Phalippon - Bass

Description/Reviews
...we’re taken on a journey through a strange Wonderland here on this experimental saxophone-driven jazz prog collection from French quartet DRH.
Sometimes it’s good not to have a point of reference, even though DRH do acknowledge the spirit of King Crimson, Periphery and Zappa in their work. Having no point of reference means no pre-conceived ideas. DRH help us on our way with this delusional acid style – again I am borrowing their own analogy here. We float away in this rather odd world of sound distortions. There is structure in this instrumental world. The sax slithers and there’s an aura deep dementia.
