Description/Reviews
Opening the album is the spectacular Attack of the Great Worm with solid power metal chords straight from the ’80s to greet the listener. A flurry of time signatures will leave you unsure of quite how to bop your head before an unexpected acoustic guitar section introduces the singer. I’ll leave the word ‘unexpected’ out of the rest of this review because just about everything on this record is made to defy expectations; no familiar song formulas or structures, quirky instrumentation on every track and a turbulent seesaw between silly and scary atmospheres throughout.

With SEED Freedom To Glide have brought together every aspect of their unique sound to produce a very focused and personal concept album based around one man's experience of 1918 - the final year of World War 1. Musically, Freedom To Glide take you on a cinematic journey through their now familiar sonic landscape of layered synths, evocative acoustic guitar, atmospheric piano and soaring guitar solos.

Description/Reviews
Is not the type of metal I’m used to listen, this band is really peculiar, but in a good way, they manage to make lots of truly melodious combinations on this album, from calmly clean guitars, to distorted potent ones followed by rhythms that are actually catchy. I can clearly hear the inspiration of Opeth here.

Description/Reviews
Side ‘A’ opens with “Phrygian Youth”, a track that is deeply drenched into mid 70s Progressive Rock, becoming hard, then mellow, then dreamy, then sharp with blistering/shimmering electric guitar solos, then bluesy, then a marching Hard Rock beat enters, then Prog again, then the intriguing hot Hammond Organ enters, then the whole thing becomes mystically epic!

Description/Reviews
An electro-acoustic congregation with an ambient-folk-prog propensity that wonderfully transforms the enchanting images of Patagonia into music, seen through the eyes and the emotions of the Argentine musician.
Bucolic atmospheres, pastoral sounds, luminous melodies, ancestral rituals (in which the flute and above all the violin play a leading role), as in an enchanting journey accompanied by ten instrumental pieces.

Jason Ward: drums, vocals, synths, percussion
Cheryl Manner: guitar
Owen Burd: guitar, vocals, trumpet

Description/Reviews
Kicking off with the aforementioned tower, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in for a straightforward sludge fest, with swathes of guitar overlapping one another in a sonic tsunami. That, in itself, would make for a fine record, but then the band launch into waking eye, which transpires to be the sort of mesmerising prog-metal that made Mastadon’s crack the Skye such an awe-inspiring piece of work. A gloriously varied and deeply melodic piece of work, waking eye ebbs and flows beautifully, taking in lush progressive soundscapes worthy of early Genesis, explosive passages in the vein of Neurosis and much, much more, all tied together with exquisite musicianship.

Description/Reviews
At the moment, I’m most invested in a trend of “post-” post-rock, a movement seemingly led primarily by phenomenal Australian label Art As Catharsis. Their roster is stacked with some of the most exciting bands toying with the core tenets of post-rock, incorporating elements of math rock, jazz, modern classical, prog and more to create a fresh, unique sound. ... The trio’s new self-titled album is one of the most unique contemporary releases at the intersection of these styles. ... The trio channels a traditional “rock” lineup (bass, drums, guitar) through an array of lenses, ranging from jazzy and bluesy guitar licks à la Bill Frisell and Loren Connors to ambient, quasi-folk passages to lush, cinematic soundscapes. This synthesis is both intriguing and accessible, defined by a balance of modern and classic styles for a timeless, sonically rich result.

The debut album by VOVK combines various musical genres and stylistically intertwines fast stoner rock with broken math rock rhythms submerging the listener in post-hardcore and progressive rock.
Each song reflects the life of the lyrical hero who is constantly searching for himself and his place in the world opposing his personality to society and other people's believes.

Description/Reviews
Centered around the 18+ minute epic, “42,” Don't Panic bears all the hallmarks of what has made IZZ one of the brightest lights in the US progressive rock scene. The band's 9th studio album reveals a fresh, new energy evidenced immediately by the title track's driving bass and catchy hooks to the unpredictable musical twists of “Age of Stars” to the instrumental tour-de-force that is “Moment of Inertia” to the exquisite classical guitar piece, “Six String Theory.” Don't Panic represents a step out of the ordinary and into the unexpected.
The 18 minute-long “42” displays the band in full force as all four vocalists, Anmarie Byrnes, Laura Meade, John Galgano, and Tom Galgano, create melodies and harmonies around the intersecting and connected sections of the piece while guitarist Paul Bremner, and drummers, Greg DiMiceli and Brian Coralian bring the song's powerful, dynamic, and emotional arrangement to life.
