With a deep connection and love for minimalist music, especially that of Terry Riley’s organ works, heavy stoner rock ala Sleep, High on Fire and Elder and the electronic avant-garde, the Full Earth-sphere circles in on fuzzed out riffs, sonic experimentalism and noise music.

Cloud Sculptors, which is a kind of abstract, mythological and psychedelic account, consists of six thoroughly composed and extensively produced tracks. Four of them are long-form, instrumental, fuzz-heavy and sludgy compositions stretching towards the 20-minute mark. Echo Tears and Weltgeist are two shorter organ compositions inspired by James Ferraro, Onehotrix Point Nevers and Györgi Ligeti's genius contributions to musical history.

Drawing expansively not only from classic doom, but also prog rock and grunge among others, they have a brilliant sound that is incredibly hard to pigeonhole into a single subgenre. It’s made for some incredibly broad and eclectic records that have gained the band a sizeable following since the release of their debut self-titled EP in 2015. The band’s second album II: The Ground Below is not only a fine example of this in action for those unfamiliar with their music, but also sees their already expansive sound develop even further, making this their most ambitious work to date.

With a defined style, IAH invites us to explore instrumental environments in which psychedelia, post-rock, stoner and post-metal coexist in perfect harmony. Without fanfare, and knowing when to put the intensity, they manage to create songs full of beauty with which to transmit different states of mind to the listener. Long songs in which they express their good work and that are built from the calm, but that contain different oscillations that make them anything, less monotonous. With nods to the characteristic ambient sound of bands like Yawning Man, they manage to combine progressive elements with the quieter echoes of desert rock. A sensory dimension in which its atmospheres trap the listener, providing a reflective environment of great beauty. This is not an album to party, but, on the contrary, it is the ideal soundtrack to find yourself, in a warm, and very introspective environment. An album that may seem somewhat linear at first impression, but which, on the contrary, has many nuances embedded in each of its songs, something that IAH does with the subtlety of a veteran band. “Corrosive,”...gave me bigtime King’s X vibes the first time I heard it, an automatic “I’m in” in my book. As I progressed through the album, Eroded ended up revealing itself to be a far more nuanced and unique beast than a simple “for fans of King’s X” sticker might indicate — somehow both heavier and more poppy — and yet here I am coming back to that comparison, another proggy power trio that made way more noise than you’d expect and were far better and more influential than most folks gave them credit for. This is Causa Sui like you’ve never heard. Fuzz pedals aren’t engaged, drums aren’t beat within an inch of their lives, and songs don’t drop into dark and foreboding doldrums. Instead, this record is a reprieve from the insanity. Szabodelico brings to mind the almost meditative quality of Popol Vuh, but with an almost island vibe. It’s a contemplative, thoughtful, and heady 60 minutes of sound and light from one of the most forward-thinking bands working today.
