Description/Reviews:
Inspired by the journey of discovery experienced by the last man on earth, the album explores the tales and history encountered by the man in a grand library, referred to as the "Citadel", as he studies to finally gain his ascension. Comprised of 12 tracks, "Citadel" is the culmination of all the bands work over the past 4 years, and sees the band experimenting ever further with their established mix of Mathcore, Death Metal, Electronic and Progressive elements. Also read the full review at themetalistza.co.za

The music style is very much in the "movie soundscapes" genre, similar to Alan Parsons Project, Camel and Pink Floyd albums. It is very much a rock instrumental album with many sound textures. The guitar is the main melodic instrument.Media/Samples

Description/Reviews:
The band may label their sound as thrash metal, but that is only partially right. While the music offers thrashing riffs and pummeling grooves, there is a lot going on; from rich melodies to hook-laden choruses to epic chord progressions. One might inclined to describe this as melodic thrash, but Arx throws just enough crushing heaviness throughout The Speed of Dark to defy the tag. At over an hour long, the band juggles enough variation to keep things interesting, from the spacey, psyscheldic soloing on “What Could’ve Been” to the epic pacing of the title track; it should suffice to say that it’s not all windmilling, headbanging thrash metal. Chugging thrash riffs collide with moody atmospheric passages and drop into melodic licks; constantly changing gears and keeping the listener on their toes.Read the full review by Shawn Miller at metal-observer.com

Solo project from multi-instrumentalist Mandisi Nkomo who seemlessly fuses classical, fusion and experimental music with a small does of heaviness. (progmetalzone.com)
