Description/Reviews
Progenie Terrestre Pura (PTP henceforth) are a progressive/industrial black metal trio from Italy. Their music tends toward the richer and more diverse aspects of black metal, utilizing a full-bodied production style to create smooth and heavy textures that incorporate a multitude of instruments and sounds outside of the expected tremolo-picked, blast beat goodness of more traditional black metal fare.

The Sonic Shamen "Tribute To Lemmy"

Country: UK
Genre(s): Instrumental Psychedelic, Space Rock
Label: Space Rock Productions (SRP044)
Format: vinyl, digital
Release date: May 29, 2017
Tracklist
1. 7 Or 7 Or Not (17:44)
2. Sam Gopal's Dream (13:27)
3. Freaky R&R (7:14)
4. Ravi In Space (17:35)
5. Stoned Dead Your Cleaver (18:22)
6. In The Kitchen (2:40)

Total Time 77:02

Line-up
Fred (Earthling Society) - Guitars, Effects
Vince (Red Elektra) - Guitars, Effects
Martin (Litmus) - Bass, Mellotron, Synthesizers
Dr Space (Øresund Space Collective, Black Moon Circle) - Modular Synthesizer
Jon (Earthling Society) - Drums, Percussion

Description/Reviews
Proceedings kick off with '7 Or 7 Or Not', a take on Hawkwind's '7 By 7' and is a wonderful swirling psychedelic track that harks back to the seventies. The guitar is reminiscent of Pink Floyd in their pomp - that same rich tone and meandering melody that has soundtracked a thousand trips..it is a lysergic journey that maintains a chilled aspect despite/because of some fantastic playing. The addition of some spacey electronica courtesy of Dr Space gives things an air of cosmic spacerock so beloved of Hawkwind. This is 'grown up' psychedelia - there is no bombastic shredding, just some pure and utter joyful music.

Bosco "Bosco"

Country: Italy
Genre(s): Instrumental Experimental Post Metal, Progressive Rock
Format: digital
Release date: May 28, 2017
Tracklist
1. Primo Strato Di Spirito (5:43)
2. Solvuoto (5:08)
3. Melancolia (6:54)
4. Bosco (8:35)
5. Nell'io Sepolto (6:53)
6. Ostile (6:20)
7. Penombra (7:01)

Total Time 46:34

Line-up
Lorenzo Nencini - drums
Laurence Cocchiara - violin
Emanuele Duchi - electric guitar

Description/Reviews
Bosco arises from the fusion of several genres such as stoner, sludge, post-core, progressive 70s rock, noise, classical music, folk and ambient.
The sound is a constant fluctuation between light and shadow, between delicate melodies and heavy distorted riffs, between slow cadenced rhythms and furious post-core and black metal rhythmic accelerations.
The dynamics and the expressiveness play a fundamental role thanks to the use of the violin, there are in fact crescendos and diminuendi to highlight a deep and enveloping 'wall of sound' made of harmonic intertwinings that dominate the tracks for all the duration of the pieces.

Line-up
Sæþór Maríus Sæþórsson
Svavar Austmann
Aðalbjörn Tryggvason

Description/Reviews
Berdreyminn is a much warmer, and in some ways, less intense and upbeat record; utilizing a hefty slab of 80s influence, from the synths to the guitar tones, solos, and even the galloping rhythm section. Anyone who liked the extreme, bleak isolation of Otta will probably be taken back at certain points by some the decisions they’ve made. However, in the context of the band’s progression as artists, it all seems to be the most natural choice for a great successor album. In spite of my fervent love for the wintry, windswept elements of the former, and the fact that’s what made their sound so appealing to me, Berdreyminn still brings the same level of quality, albeit in a different way.

Cydemind "Erosion"

Country: Canada
Genre(s): Instrumental Progressive Metal
Format: CD, digital
Release date: May 26, 2017
Tracklist
1. What Remains (4:58)
2. Tree Of Tales (6:41)
3. Derecho (13:36)
4. Red Tides (5:25)
5. Stream Capture (6:29)
6. Erosion (27:19)

Total time 64:28

Line-up
Olivier Allard - Violin
Camille Delage - Keyboards
Kevin Paquet - Guitars
Nico Damoulianos - Bass
Alexandre Dagenais - Drums

Description/Reviews
While Montreal’s Cydemind use a violin prominently in their music, ... they sound more like if Tim Charles of Ne Obliviscaris joined Dream Theater…if they were an instrumental band.
While the band are all virtuosos, they don’t overplay necessarily. Yes the music is tight and quite technical at times, the band also understand the importance of the almightly riff and build their songs off of riffs rather than just soloing all over the place.

Barrows "Obsidion"

Country: USA
Genre(s): Instrumental Psychedelic/Space/Post Rock
Label: Tonzonen Records  (TON028)
Format: digital, vinyl
Release date: May 26, 2017
Tracklist
1. Telekin (1:43)
2. Entrada (7:00)
3. Obsidion (10:29)
4. Cocoon (19:46)
5. Manna (3:28)
6. Zenith (12:39)

Total time: 55:05

Line-up
Jim Leonard - guitar, bass, synth
Richy Epolito - drums

Description/Reviews
The focus of Obsidion shifts more to atmosphere, story and lingering within their lush cosmic instrumental pocket. It is an album that may not be as instantly rewarding as Red Giant with its dramatic inclusion of some post-rock and metal elements. That said, the grooves and melodies, while often not as heavy, are every bit as catchy and enthralling. The layered depth of sound may be slower to appreciate initially but becomes much more gratifying over repeat listens.

Description/Reviews
Face-melting psychedelia opens up the album as Patkova, backed by ominous arpeggios and electronic squeaks, goes from a murmur to a shout. In four minutes, she reaches total abandon, and it sets the tone for the rest of the album, where anything can happen—as long as it’s in a minor key.
