Description/Reviews
In looking at how the pieces form the whole, “Lovers Calling” (co-written with Alex Lifeson from Rush) stands out as a crown jewel in this recording with a heartstring-tugging bassline from Mohini Dey and Maiah Wynne’s dreamy, contemplative vocals. The overall effect is moody, which pervades the album, but on this song the tenderness underneath really shines.

Description/Reviews
"Una Seconda Strana Sensazione" is a concept album, between our past and our hypothetical future, telling the inner vicissitudes of our protagonist: "Mr. F".
Mr. F is an anti-hero, an apparently normal man, conscious of his experience, but with a complex personality, which makes the normality his strength. He can feed on both the beauty and the demons surrounding himself, by always finding the strength and the desire to regenerate and to leave every day. You can hear him whispering: “just the normality will save us...”

Description/Reviews
The name “Hidden Village” reflects the unbelievable contributions of 20 unique musicians, friends from a threaded journey that has taken me from city to city, genre to genre, band to band, and life event to life event.  The “village” is the community of musicians that made this album possible. Some tracks were tunes that just didn’t quite fit Little Atlas, but the bandmates  long history together created a sense of comfort and confidence that perfectly led to their contributions.

Line-up

Description/Reviews
'Commune’ (2019) opens with the brisk flurry of melody and drums on “Prodigal Cosmonaut,” stuttering along on restless tempos and a prog-salted caramel of critical velocity, which is both spacey and spatial. The sheet-metal riffage of “Hokus Smokus” bends and deforms harmonic vocals with its brutal impetus. The classic '70s Hammond sound sizzles over fiery proto-metal licks during “Ask Yourself,” bringing Atomic Rooster to mind. Finally, the synth-saturated entrance to “Raw” tumbles into a crescendo of crashing shreds and swirling sonic patterns. “Commune” breathes with the accomplishments of quality and execution: a smorgasboard of success. Description/Reviews
Overall, it was difficult to categorize this album. Prog Rock? Prog Metal? Maybe, but with a tone of different influences that went into it. The vocals varied from all over the place as well. At its core, it is Dark, Gothic inspired Progressive Music that has that distinct Danish feeling to it. You know what I’m talking about. The darkness and mystery are enough to keep any listener interested so I definitely recommend giving his your time.

Description/Reviews
Not a concept album as such – though the songs are thematically linked – and all deal with magic, mystery and the unexplained. It’s a very moody album with lots of interesting twists and turns. This is probably our most musically adventurous album, blending progressive rock, hard rock, folk, orchestral and new age into a melting pot of melody.

Description/Reviews
The title track “(Love Is) The Answer” heralds the news that the Franck Carducci band is taking it up a notch as shimmering 12-string acoustic guitar, synth, didgeridoo and a strong chorus of singers welcomes the listener in the first minute. The song continues to progress replete with Close-to-the-Edge-keyboards, punchy bass, a spacious guitar solo and an anthemic chorus that just won’t quit. If this is your first introduction to Franck Carducci, these 8 minutes will likely make you a believer. This song isn’t only a highlight of the album, it’s one of the best of the year.

Description/Reviews
The overall sound has become richer and darker, guitars and bass — heavier, more aggressive. Vocals still range from pure singing to the branded extreme vocals, while in some places the frontman now takes higher notes, in some moments even accompanied by the choir. The album sounds very unusual. And perhaps this is the only thing that confuses in the new BBTSOTKOTS.

Description/Reviews
The Southern French quartet are now returning with a more “typical” HYPNO5E record, if there is such a thing: their 5th album, “A Distant (Dark) Source”, is the second part of a diptych album project. “A Distant (Dark) Source” continues to chase those demons and lost memories which the band has been chasing ever since their debut album “Des Deux L'Une Est L'Autre”: the album is an inward journey to the land of the ghosts of the past. At the origin of this distant dark source lies Tauca, an old Paleolithic lake located in Bolivia. It disappeared more than 15 000 years ago, leaving behind an arid land and salt lakes at 4.500m of altitude in the Andes mountain range. “A Distant (Dark) Source” is the musical imagination of a night in this desert, during which the old shores of the lake see the return of the shadows of the people who used to live in this area before its disappearance.  …but don't be deterred by such conceptual enthusiasm, as HYPNO5E sound is powerful, visceral and immediate. There are moments that remind you of the expansive technical elaborations of BTBAM, but there is also the careful melancholia of Cynic and the sheer power of Gojira... but in the end, all these comparisons fail - HYPNO5E's organic sound is undoubtedly their own. Unlike so many bands who rely on a single sound or technique to create their music, HYPNO5E are not bound to any precondition.

Description/Reviews
Moving right along, Skyblood will please Progressive Metal fans, particularly those who enjoyed the peak era of Queensrÿche. Additionally, smatterings of Septicflesh, and Hellenic bands in general, permeate the album, as do the more aggressive and progressive elements of the various Devin Townsend projects. After an opening peppered with harpsichord and pipes, “Wake Up to the Truth” is much more guitar- and bass-driven, and one of the more complete’ songs on the album.
