Description/Reviews
All the instruments used seem to be vintage (or they sound like it at least). There is a lot of cool organ and synth and the lead guitar has Gimour/Latimer qualities, something I appreciate a lot with the extensive soloing. The songs are dynamic but in a relaxed manner. Camel and Caravan come to my mind as acceptable references, even though none of the songs here actually remind of these two bands.

Description/Reviews
His writing is rooted in sophisticated pop-rock, with a clear classic Progressive rock influence, but in a more contained format. His debut studio album is the result of a mature work of artisanal style with refined craft. "Perspectives" rescues the most important premise of the Progressive rock destiny. Everything is relative to what you look at, precisely what the word means, richness in the diversity of ideas, likes and ideals with which the human being makes the world different. "What do you see ? Is it my reality ? Each and everyone of us holds to their own perception...". Let's also note the splendid cover art designed by the one and only Paul WHITEHEAD, and you'll get one of the most surprising newcomers in recent times ! (musearecords.com)

Description/Reviews
A space opera that tells a story of a divided planet coming together to defeat something bigger, it utilizes a number of metal influences to tell the tale. Progressive and melodic death metal immediately come to mind, with a scope that envisions that of Devin Townsend’s first Ziltoid album.

Description/Reviews
The older I get, the more I seem to reach back for a musical sound that pre-dates my listening possibilities. For while I was alive when Sparks, 10cc, Supertramp, ELO, or Queen were in their pomp, I was too young to truly appreciate (if I even heard) their output. Add in Angel, Boston, John Lawton fronted Uriah Heep and City Boy and you could wrap up Cats In Space and give them as the perfect 70s flavoured gift. Scarecrow is the band's second album, the stunning Too Many Gods smooth, slick, catchy and clever enough to suggest this lot might just be the real deal. Well, Scarecrow seals it, a collection of ten skillfully crafted cuts whisking you back to a time when bands could create what in truth is progressive pop craziness and have the masses lap it up as though it was the latest flavour of Creamola Foam!

The vocal track for “Sevens Years at Sea” is from “A Treasury of Library of Congress Field Recordings”, and is sung by Elita, Mary, and Ella - the Hoffpauir Sisters

Description/Reviews
The album has great variety to it when it comes to sounds with the vibe feeling more like a soundtrack to a non-existent movie. From the violin led opener “Lucid Intervals” to the Dixie Dregs influenced “Driving Patterns” to the slow drag of “Tobacco” to the upbeat Kansas feel of “Firearms” to the open jam of “Breaking Butterflies Upon a Wheel”:the arrangements are connected even when the approach is different. This gives each track (and I mean each track) its own unique identity. This is a rare commodity.

The Tronosonic Experience "The Tronosonic Experience"

Genre(s): Avant Prog, Jazz-Rock
Label: Losen Records (LOS 174)
Format: CD, digital, vinyl
Release date: August 18, 2017
Tracklist
1. Die Streif (3:48)
2. Maelstrom (4:49)

5. The Crossing (5:21)
6. A Quiet Flame (6:47)
7. Catching The Nile Perch (5:59)

Total Time 34:49

Line-up
Ole Jørgan Bardal: saxophones
Øyvind Nypan: guitar, baryton guitar
Per Harald Ottesen:  bass
Iver Loe Bjørnstad:  drums, percussion

Description/Reviews
The Tronosonic Experience represents a departure from Losen Records rooster of jazz artists, and is a powerful outing of instrumental rock. The band describes their music as punk-jazzavant- rock, and is inspired by artists as diverse as Ornette Coleman and Black Sabbath, John Coltrane and King Crimson, Cecil Taylor and Terje Rypdal. The Tronosonic Experience's drummer Ivar Loe Bjørnstad and bassist Per Harald Ottesen lay Down a strong foundation of rock riffing over which the saxophonist Ole Jørgen Bardal and guitarist Øyvind Nypan improvise freely. The mood of the album is varied, and was strongly affected by the huge waves of the ocean and the sheer force of the winter storms raging outside the recording studio's windows. The music ranges from the fast paced and hard-hitting tracks Die Streif and The Crossing, via the slowly evolving thunder of Maelstrom and A Quiet Flame, to the quieter vibes of No Country for Young Men and Light as a Feather, Heavy as a Lead Balloon. The closer, Catching the Nile Perch, nicely sums up the album.

Description/Reviews
Fusing driving futurist rock and spectral electronics to elegiac hyper-space ambience and dizzying, squalling guitars, To The Bone is Steven Wilson’s hat-tip to the hugely ambitious progressive pop records of his youth (think Peter Gabriel’s So, Talk Talk’s Colour of Spring, Tears for Fears Seeds of Love).
Lyrically, the album’s eleven tracks veer from the paranoid chaos of the post-truth era and the creeping self-loathing of the technology age to steely fly-on-the-wall observations of the everyday lives of religious fundamentalists with a welcome shot or two of wide-eyed escapism. Sonically and melodically stunning, To The Bone is a high definition snapshot of the disconcerting times we live in.

Description/Reviews
Among the most relaxed material the band has ever put out, the new album deviates from King Gizzard’s long-established formula of jam band-esque psychedelic rock with surprisingly agile detours into soul, jazz, North African overtones, and pastoral English folk.

Description/Reviews
Fans of ELP, Gentle Giant and other early 70s prog will dig this grab bag of bright compositions featuring solo performances by Oz Noy, Nad Sylvan, Jeff Scott Soto and many others. Life Is Good – the debut album by Russian/American project RTfact – is an archaeological trove of musical nuggets, with soaring vocals, Hammond B3 wizardry, muscular guitar solos, and a supple rhythm section that grooves as hard as it rocks. Composer Yuri Volodarsky grew up in the USSR, a kind of parallel universe where limited access to Western music only increased his passion for it, while firing his musical imagination. And imagination is everywhere on Life Is Good, from the Spock's Beard-style vocal counterpoint of the title track, to the bizarre saga of an unlucky bank robber in Money in My Pocket, to an epic tribute to ELP in The King, the Master, and the Timekeeper. But while Life Is Good celebrates the joyful, whimsical vibe of early prog rock, the newcomers on the album bring a modern, fluid energy to the party.
