Description/Reviews:
In Focus is the second studio album by Materialeyes. While the initial album, Strange Road was generally well received, there was some argument regarding it being strictly prog rock or not.Media/Samples
Fear not. In Focus is most definitely full of proggy goodness. Featuring Moogs, Hammonds and various assorted instruments, In Focus should appeal to everyone with a love of prog rock music.
Opening with Prelude which morphs into the melancholia of The Poet, followed by the beautiful Waterfall. Next comes In The City, an ear-worm of epic proportions. A Cold Wind draws on the emotional loss of loved ones, followed by the final track Fields of Heaven, another epic with Elizabethan beginnings slowly building to a grand finale.

This is a slow burn type of album. Slightly different from the mass of symphonic prog around at the moment. The more I listen, the more I get into the details of this CD. Most enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteGive it a few listens. It grows on you. Trust me! Love Fields of Heaven.
ReplyDeleteWestmoreland has a distinctive, clear voice with an old-school quality. A fine mellow mix of synths, hammonds, acoustic guitar and some nice lead guitar. I look forward to their next album.
