Description/Reviews
Les jeûnes de la chair is the first of a three part opus called Sahara d'endorphine. It is the musical project of a Québécois avant-garde artist called Nicolas Aubé Lanctot going under the name Le Pelteux de Nuages (an alias that means Idealist).
The music on Les jeûnes de la chair is hard to pin down. It is mostly instrumental with music that goes from dark ambient to post rock, but also can be quite melodic (mostly in the longer pieces).
As far as I can tell this is Lanctot's first album and I am quite impressed by it. At times I hear some Nosound (in the more melancholic passages), also Steven Wilson's more experimental solo music,  but perhaps Norwegian band White Willow could be the best reference to describe Les jeûnes de la chair (their stripped down album Sacrament coming to my mind), this because of the northern desolate ambiance on this very good album, that is typical of many scandinavian Prog albums.
