Dark Before Dawn ranges across various styles, but is always engaging in theme and musically captivating. Anyone expecting Patterson and Melbourne to mimic the classic ‘Prog’ tropes of their former band will need to look elsewhere as this is a fresh contemporary rock album which is accessible and fascinating.
